Obituary of Rodrigo Bugarin Pagdilao

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rodrigo Bugarin Pagdilao after a courageous year-long battle with cancer. Rod, as he was affectionately known, leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories that will forever be cherished by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

 

He was born on May 27, 1953 in Pinili, Philippines, the youngest of four siblings, and emigrated to Fort St. John in September 1974 where his hidden talents as a chef flourished. Known for his contagious laughter and vibrant smile, he was undeniably charming. His strong work ethic and outgoing nature endeared him to people wherever he went, effortlessly forming connections with everyone he met. Rod's lively personality and positive energy made him a magnet for friendships, always leaving a lasting impression on those around him.

 

Rod was predeceased by his parents Constancio and Regina Pagdilao, and his brothers Lecidante "Dante" and Catalino "Enoy" Pagdilao. He is survived by his sister Renee Acuna (Rodante) and their sons Rodante Jr. and Ronaldo (Marsha), and his sisters-in-law Lilia Pagdilao and Efremelita Pagdilao. He will also be deeply missed by his nieces Lily Kilbey (Kerry), Rose Li (Dave), Michelle DeLeon (Sonny), Sharon Segovia (Ramiro), Joy Rawson (Kevin), nephews Dante Jr and Nick Pagdilao, numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, along with his relatives and extended family through his siblings' marriages, as well as countless friends locally and throughout the globe.

 

His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, serving as a source of comfort and inspiration while his memory will be a heartening reminder of the incredible impact one person can have on the world. May he rest in peace knowing that he was truly adored and loved.

 

 

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the palliative care team at the Fort St. John General Hospital for the compassionate care and support provided to Rod during his final weeks.

 

 

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Resurrection with reception to follow. For those unable to attend can watch the live stream HERE

 

 

Rod’s interment at his final resting place will be planned by his family at a later date.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation in memory of Rod Pagdilao.
