Thank you Travis for all your kind and caring words. I had a good laugh when you mentioned the joke clear blue cheer. I will always remember that joke too, and the casual way Gary told it.

It has been 2 weeks since the passing. Sometimes I feel like it's still surreal. I've only ever had one step dad in my life. Gary was my step dad. He was probably the best stepdad I could have ever asked for. He was loving and he was kind, he taught me how to do things with wood and building, and he loved me unconditionally. Gary built many things in his life. But especially he built a relationship with each one of us during his lifetime. I will always and forever love him. Gary had many people that he loved and many people that loved him. Thank you to you Gary, and I will forever be grateful for you.

I met Gary in 1993 and we soon became fast and great pals and over the years best friends, he in fact was my best man when I married my wife. Gary and I worked together at Windsor Plywood spending lots of time together at least until he met his loving wife Roseanne. I have always admired Garys knowledge of construction and carpentry and how effortless it was for him to visualize what needed to be done or add his finishing touch. I fondly remember some of his carpentry wisdom whenever I fit lumber and its too tight, For Petes sake Travis, were not building a fricking piano! He was always quick to help and had a great sense of humor. We will always remember his famous joke Clear Blue Cheer! Gary was a gentle, loving soul. I will miss you Gary but we will see each other again. Our deepest, heartfelt condolences to you Roseanne & your family.

Hey Gar, You were the best brother anyone could wish for. Always there when I needed to talk and always willing to give me guidance and show the right way to do anything. You inspired me to learn upholstery and all types of home renovations and taught me so much. You were always raising the bar, and just when I thought I was catching up you would tell me about a better way to do molding or latest way to do something. You are my hero Gar and I'm glad you can rest now as you worked so hard for so many years. I look forward to the day when we can be together again and we build something together in heaven.

I will always remember the fun family times we had together. I have so many happy memories of you to cherish forever.WHERE A BEAUTIFUL PERSON HAS BEEN, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES.LOVE and HUGS to Gary, Dar, Fred and Pat

My Uncle Gary was such a kind, caring soul. I will always fondly remember our fishing trip to Yellowknife with him and my dad (his younger brother Fred) in 2012. He always showed me so much love and I looked up to him a lot for both his heart and his work ethic. He had such a profound impact on me despite the geographical distance that existed between us most of my life. He will be sorely missed but his spirit will carry on in our family!

Our brother Gary was a very intelligent, generous, kind and gentle man who leaves behind a family who loved him and misses him dearly. While saddened by his loss, we take solace in the fact that he is no longer suffering. We have so many happy memories of growing up and the many years of good times we all shared as young adults with our families. He made the best clam chowder ever, and we shall always celebrate him when trying our best to replicate something half as good. He is survived by 2 sisters, 1 brother, 1 brother-in-law, 1 sister-in-law, 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, 1 uncle, 2 aunts, 2 nieces and 5 nephews, who have always adored and admired him. He also leaves 8 cousins, extended family and many friends. He was a friend to many, and never held a grudge or ill feelings toward others. I am so thankful for our visit with him in hospital, reminiscing about years past and current issues. In true Gary fashion, he was more concerned about those who loved him than death itself, as he had come to terms with its imminence. Until we meet again, Gar! Always and forever in our hearts. A Memorial tree was ordered in memory of Gary Robert Hope by Trudy Hope. Plant a TreeGary and I started our first grade class together in the unique situation of Teacher, meet my Aunt, that was a just part of many fun family Birthday parties, milestones and many camping adventures in WA, BC and AB in the 50s into the late 60s. My parents, Fred & Blanche Hope and myself joined my brothers Bob and Harry and their growing families on many fun adventures, Gary and his siblings were a lot like brothers and sisters as we were growing up in some of the Best of Times, safe and pretty carefree. Family love and those memories were rooted during those years and held in our hearts even though the later years offered few family adventures. I am grateful he is now free of all earthly restraints, what a kind gentle man.Trudy Hope

So sorry to hear of Garys passing. I first met him when I briefly joined the Windsor Plywood team. I would occasionally drop by his house for short chats with him. I lived on 103 Ave., just around the corner from his house. R.I.P. Gary....it was a real pleasure knowing you.
