It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Shirley Ann Appleton, on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
Shirley Ann was born in Brandon, Manitoba, on November 5, 1951, the youngest of four children, to John and Ivy Redding. She went to a one room school house in Ingelow, Manitoba before moving with her family to Armstrong, BC where she completed her education. She moved to Fort St. John in 1970 after following a friend here. She worked at what is now Humpty's, the Alaska Highway News, Windy Point Lodge, Alway Refrigeration, and spent 20+ years with the Government Agents Office in Fort St. John.
Shirley Ann was loving, supportive, personable, and hard working, always putting family and people before herself. She had a great sense of humour and adored her grandsons.
Shirley Ann will be deeply missed by her husband Lee Appleton; son Grant (Laurel); grandsons, Thomas and Benjamin; sister Linda (Gordon) Partridge; brother Bill (Marlene) Redding; sister-in-law Linda Redding; numerous nieces and nephews; and finally, Buddy the puppy.
Shirley Ann requested that there be no service. She believed in donating to community needs like the food bank, Women's Resource Center, and Fort St. John Association for Community Living, to name a few. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in loving memory of Shirley Ann to the North Peace SPCA.
You can still show your support by sending flowers directly to the family, or by planting a memorial tree in the memory of Shirley Ann (Redding) Appleton
