Obituary of Tim Rempel

Obituary Timothy Reid Rempel went to be with the Lord on Friday May 18, 2012 at the age of 68. Tim was born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan on March 3, 1944 to loving parents Ben and Susie Rempel. He was the third of thirteen children. In 1951, the family relocated to Goodlow, B.C. to homestead. Tim was a boisterous boy who loved people. When visitors would come, Tim would love to interact while all his siblings ran off to hide. At the age of 14, Tim quit school and went to work for Bernard Little to help support the family. A while later, Rev Walter McNaughton was biking through the area holding kids groups and recruited Tim to study at Peace River Bible Institute in Sexsmith, AB. There Tim completed his high school education and received a Bachelor of Religious Education Degree. While attending PRBI, Tim spent the summers working for local farmers, counselling at Rock of Ages Bible Camp, and helping with the construction of the WAC Bennett Dam. PRBI is where he met the love of his life, Connie Erickson, and they were married on July 1, 1966. Tim joined the family farm near Valhalla Centre and eventually took over full management. After 10 years of marriage God finally blessed, Tim and Connie with a little girl. While farming, Tim also drove truck, hauling chips, drilling mud, etc. He and Connie also operated a restaurant in Beaverlodge for a couple of years. After 30 years of farming, the decision to quit was a difficult one. Every fall he still longed to be on a combine. He went on to work for Alberta Hail and Crop Insurance, but found the summers too quiet. One summer, he and his friend Karel decided to take on a challenge and fully renovated a dilapidated heritage house in Beaverlodge into a beautiful, modern family home. In 1992, Tim went to work as a Service Writer for his friend Scott at Precision Automotive in Grande Prairie. Having always been self-employed, he felt a desire to pursue a business of his own and started up a Mac Tools franchise in 1994, which led him back to his roots in Fort St John, BC. He loved interacting with people, he believed in his product, and excelled at sales receiving many awards. Under the encouragement of Ray Yenkana, Tim decided it was time to pursue a sales career that required someone else to collect the money! He joined ReMax Action Realty in January 1999, where he worked until his passing. Tim was a man of faith and had a heart for God. He was actively involved in the churches he attended over the years, serving as a Board member of Beaverlodge Alliance Church and North Peace Mennonite Brethren Church. He also served with the Gideons for several years. He believed in getting involved in the community and trying to make a positive impact, which led him to join the Fort St John Rotary Club, where he was a member of the executive. He loved to travel, have fun, and to spend time with people. He had an affinity for children and over the years he was involved with Pioneer Clubs, Junior Church, and the Sunday School bus ministry. He also took in several troubled teens to mentor on the farm. Over the past 7 years, Tim and Connie have filled their home with international students from Japan, China, Korea, and Colombia. Some of these people became very close and were "adopted" as his kids. Though he didn't get a lot of time away from work, he enjoyed curling, fishing, picnicking, golfing, and quadding. Tim was predeceased by his mother and father, Ben and Susie Rempel; his sister Peggy; and his in-laws, Nellie and Martin Erickson. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Connie Rempel; his children Pamelyn and Ryan Koehn; his grandchildren Joel and Linnea Koehn; his 11 siblings and their families; his "adopted" Canadian, Korean, and Colombian children; and many other family members and friends. A Celebration of Tim's Life will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Fort St. John Alliance Church. Donations in memory of Tim can be made to The Gideons International of Canada or The Fort St John Rotary Club Student Exchange Program. Celebration of Life MAY 25. 01:00 PM Christian & Missionary Alliance Church 9904 - 98 Street BC, CA, V1J 3T8 Services
