Obituary of Stanley Gladysz

Obituary Stanley Dennis Gladysz was born in Krakow, Poland on November 10, 1936. In May of 1939, Stan, with his parents, Stanley and Genowefa, and younger brother Paul immigrated to Canada and lived at what is now known as Sandy Beach at Charlie Lake. Stan attended school at Charlie Lake and later at Notre Dame in Dawson Creek where he graduated in 1956. Stan attended the University of British Columbia for one year taking civil engineering technology. In 1960 he became employed by the Department of Highways in Fort St. John. In 1973 Stan was transferred with Department of Highways to Dease Lake for approximately one year and from there to Dawson Creek for 20 years as District Highways Manager. Stan retired in 1994. In 1964 Stan married the love of his life, Marguerite Engler. They have two sons, James (Dori) and Robert, and seven grandchildren: Seth, Isaiah, Micah, Elijah, Jessica, Jocelyn and Jordan, of whom they are very proud. Stan loved his family and was very committed to being a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren at every opportunity. In May of 1984 Stan achieved one of his life-long dreams when he received his private pilot's license. He purchased an airplane and has been flying ever since. Stan was an avid hunter, fisherman, snowmobiler, boater, and overall explorer who enjoyed everything outdoors. He was very diligent in his involvement with many organizations over the years. People were very important to Stan and he loved to stay in touch with his many friends. A favorite pass-time was to go for drives and enjoy the beautiful countryside. Stan's parents raised him to love God, and he believed that Jesus was his Saviour. On the evening of Monday, October 22, after enjoying supper with Marg, Stan suffered a massive heart attack at home and passed very quickly with his life-long love at his side. He will be very much missed by all. Stan is survived by his loving wife Marguerite, sons James (Dori) and Robert, brothers and sisters, Paul (Pauline), Barb (Albert), Ted (Marion), Ann (Rex), Gene (Wendy), and Sister-in-law Dawn, and pre-deceased by his father Stanley Sr., mother Genowefa, and brother Jack.
