Obituary JEANNE ELIZABETH PRYNDIK NOVEMBER 18TH 1928 - SEPTEMBER 7TH 2015 Jeanne Pryndik, 86 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wife, Mother and Nana, Jeanne Elizabeth Pryndik (Roberts), 86, of Fort St. John, on September 7th 2015. Jean was born in Lacombe Alberta to Jack and Cecil Roberts on November 18th 1928. After finishing high school, Jean moved on to Calgary, but went home to Lacombe almost weekly to spend time with her Mom and brother Len. In 1952 she met the love of her life, Alec Pryndik, and in 1953, she made him her partner for life. Alec worked in construction and Jean called home wherever Alec worked. Together, they travelled and made remarkable memories living in Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, Hinton and St. John's Newfoundland. When Alec started on the St. Lawrence Seaway project in Montreal in 1959, Jean became the Hostess for the Montreal Flying Club. She met some wonderful people there and enjoyed her job for the two years they resided in Quebec. In 1962, Alec and Jean returned to Edmonton, and bought a home on Saskatchewan Drive. Her love of people took her to the Hudson Bay store, and it was there she became not only a Receptionist for the Beauty Salon, but a very sought after hair model as well. In January of 1966, her daughter Kathryn was born, and Alec continued to work construction, mostly away from home. Alec decided at that time, that he needed a career change, and went to work for McCombie Bit Services in Edmonton. After working for McCombie, Alec knew he had found a new passion, and so with the flip of a coin in 1968, Alec, with Jeanne by his side, opened Pryndik Bit and Supply Ltd. and went to work for himself. He worked very hard at his new business, which took him to Northern BC where "the rigs were going".. Twenty one days after her second child, John was born on July 8th 1969, Jeanne stepped off the Greyhound Bus in Fort St. John onto a wooden sidewalk. Fort St. John was officially now going to be home ... For just five years they said, but 47 years later, Fort St. John was and still is home. Jeanne became very involved in the Community. She gave so much of herself to soo many different organizations and Clubs in Fort St. John. She became a member of the Oilwives Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, and was known to many as "Hot dog Jeanne" for her participation in her children's "hot dog days" at school, and with Minor Ball. The MS Society, Cancer Society, Minor Ball, Minor Hockey, are just a few organizations that benefited from the volunteer hours that Jeanne put into them. She was excited and honored to be asked to handle the registration for the Oilman's Golf Tournament year after year, and always looked forward to seeing the 300 plus Golfers that came to register with her. Passionate about politics, Jeanne first ran for City Council in 1990 and was elected to serve on City Council. She sat on City Council for 12 years, and became even more involved in the betterment of her Community. She is a recipient of the Order of Canada, The Service of Above Self Award in 2002 from the Rotary Club, and many other awards of Recognition for her Achievements and the time she devoted to making her Community the best place for anyone to call home. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Cecil Roberts; and her brother, Len. Jeanne is survived by her husband Alec of 65 years, son John; daughter Kathie, (Darrell) Holmes; and the apple of her eye, her Grandson Spencer. There will be no service as per Jeanne's request. Expressions of sympathy may be made by giving one hour of your time as a volunteer to the Organization of your choice, to somehow better the Community you live in, in her name. Condolences may be left in Jeanne's online guestbook at www.hamres.com. She Is Gone You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back or you can open your eyes and see all she has left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her and only that she's gone or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what mum would have wanted: Smile, Open Your Eyes, Love and Go On. Services
