Obituary of Claude David Larson

Obituary Claude David Larson (Dad) It is with heavy hearts and immense sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of a long time resident of Fort St. John, Claude David Larson. Dad went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 7,2021. Claude David Larson was born in Irma, Alberta on November 28, 1932. He was raised on a farm along with his 10 siblings. He loved animals, especially horses, which he rode to school. He claimed he had the fastest horse in the county, as he was never late for school. He left from the farm at 18 years old to work in Trail, B.C. in a smelter mine for a year. He then moved to Edmonton, Alberta to work for Palm Dairies as a milk truck driver and delivered milk to the residents, his younger brother Phillip Larson said he would ride with him and said Dad would go so fast that the milk bottles would become airborne. Dad worked there for 6 years. He then enrolled into the Edmonton Police Academy and worked in Edmonton as Constable for 5 years. This was the time he met the love of his life and his lifelong partner and wife, Irene. They were married on November 24, 1956, now he had a traveling partner and they moved to Drayton Valley, Alberta to help his older brother, Albert Larson, in his welding shop. Dad had found his nitch, welding. In 1962 we moved to Fort St. John to work for Derrick Machinery. He went to Dawson Creek Welding School to obtain his certifications. In the meantime, the family was growing, and he had more mouths to feed. He decided to rig up his own portable welding rig and start up his own business. He joined the Local Union 170 in 1966 and began working on many pipelines and facility projects in Northern, B.C. He was a long-time employee at The Taylor Refinery. The family was getting too big to be living in town. In 1972, he decided to buy an acreage in Grand Haven and build his nest, then more work was in store for him as the family was growing so was the home, with additions, clearing the land, fencing, barns, gardens, shop etc…. Dad needed more than children, he needed animals to take up more of his time, but he loved to have the menagerie of animals. His real love, other than his wife Irene of course, was his miniature horses. He would train them to do tricks, pull wagons and sleighs. When he had spare time, he would visit friends and neighbors. Dad was preceded in death by His lifelong partner and Wife, Irene Anna Ingeborg Larson, his parents, Alfred Cornelius Larson and Miliza Larson, Brothers, Albert Larson and Ralph Larson, Sisters, Olive Grendalin, Greta Glasko, Glady’s Whitely, Marney Honeyman and Adelene Hockett. Dad is survived by his sisters, twin Cora Emsland, Betty Gregoire and brother Phillip Larson as well as five children Tom Larson, Terry Larson, Tim Larson, Tracy Larson, and Brenda Larson, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
