Obituary for Audrey Anne McKay, of Taylor, BC

Audrey Anne McKay (née Scott) passed away on December 3rd, 2024, in Fort St. John, BC. Born on February 29th, 1948, in Eckville, Alberta, Audrey was a cherished daughter of the late Gale Norman Scott and Hannah Margaret Scott (née Kilpatrick). She was predeceased by her sister, Frances Louise Bourque (née Scott) and ex-husband William Eban McKay. 

In her early forties, Audrey demonstrated remarkable strength of character by recreating her life and then went on to build a successful career. Her hard work and determination afforded her the freedoms in retirement to travel and see the world. Audrey's independent spirit and unwavering resolve were an inspiration to her family and friends.

Audrey is lovingly remembered by her sister, Janet Cowan, and her partner, Rick; her daughter, Kenda McKay; her son, Allan McKay, and his partner, Liesa Peters; and her honorary daughter, Trina Renberg, and her partner, Derek. She was a proud grandmother to Samantha Mertler (née Erickson) and Justin McKay, and a wonderful great-grandmother to Kurt, Keenan, Kiefer, and Sadie Mertler. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will surely miss their beloved Auntie Audrey. 

The family is deferring a celebration of life until later in the new year to allow her numerous family and friends to arrange travel.
