Obituary of Doug Hiebert

John Douglas Hiebert, lovingly known as 'Doug', passed away on September 6, 2024, at the age of 75. Doug went peacefully, surrounded by his beloved family in Fort St John, BC. He was born on April 21, 1949 in Mission, BC, Canada. His passing has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Doug was a man of great integrity, known for his unwavering commitment to his work as a Contract Excavator Operator. He took great pride in his profession and was respected by all those who worked alongside him. His dedication and work ethic were unmatched, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and perseverance. The last twenty plus years were spent working for Macro Industries until his retirement in December 2017.

In 1995, Doug married the love of his life, Kelli, and together they embarked on a journey of love and commitment. With Doug's three children Brenda, Chris and Jason, and Kelli's three children Troy, Tara and Tanner, they became a blended family raising the four youngest together as two were already grown. Their bond only grew stronger with time. Doug's generous heart and unwavering support were evident in the care and nurturing fatherly guidance he showed to each member of his family.

Beyond his professional life, Doug was a man of many passions. He had a deep love for fishing, finding solace and joy in the tranquility of the water. His love for the outdoors and nature was evident in the time he spent pursuing this pastime, most often with Kelli in the pontoon boat fishing for walleye. Doug often joined his friends on fishing trips, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Doug's ultimate and greatest source of joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Kelli Marie Hiebert, and a loving father to his children, Jason (Cora), Troy (Michelle), Tanner (Beverly), Brenda (Vince), and Tara (Alejandro). His grandchildren, Josh, Nick (Danielle), Dylan (Katie), and Trevor (Jess) Brown. Brooke (Bill)  Devyn, Leah, Jonah Germain, Elijah and Ezra Germain, Colby and Nova Hiebert and Molly Germain Casco brought immeasurable happiness into his life as did his five greats Avani, Judah, Jaxson, Maddie, little Gracelynn and baby on the way. In February of 2024 Doug and Kelli added a new addition to their family, puppy dog Stella, whom loved and was loved by Doug. She was the missing piece of the puzzle that they never knew was missing. Doug cherished every moment spent with his family, his love for them knew no bounds.

Doug was also known for his love to travel. He and Kelli explored the world together creating unforgettable memories in every destination they visited. His passion for maintaining a beautifully manicured yard earned him the endearing nickname "Grasshole" of Charlie Lake, a testament to his dedication and attention to detail. Doug's impact extended beyond his family and friends. He was a pillar of strength and kindness in his community.

Left to mourn is Irv and sister Cheryl Boichuk, sister in law June Krichbaum and his beloved newphews and nieces including Rachael, Dawn, Chris, Jordan and Kyle. Doug is predeceased by his parents John and Eunice Hiebert and five siblings Wayne, Linda, Susie, Gerald and Glenn. The two most profound losses of Dougs were his sons Bradley John in 1972 and Christopher Thomas Hiebert whom we lost in November of 2014.
