Obituary of JoAnn Elizabeth Phillips

JoAnn Phillips

1948 - 2024

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jo Ann Phillips, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. JoAnn left us at the age of 76 in Fort St. John on August 4, 2024.

JoAnn’s life was a testament to love, kindness, and dedication. She is survived by her children, Shawney, Sherri (Robin), and Dallise; her grandchildren, Raschelle, Carter, Ryan, Tanniesha, and Dayna; and her great-grandchild, Ainsley. She also leaves behind countless relatives and friends whose lives she touched deeply.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 48 years, Morris, with whom she shared a love story that began when she was just 14 years old.

Fort St. John was not just her home but the heart of her life’s journey. JoAnn was a vibrant member of the community, finding joy in bowling, golfing, and contributing to local organizations. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She was the pillar of her family, always ensuring that her love was felt by everyone, and in return, she was adored by all who knew her.

The isolation of the pandemic was difficult for JoAnn, but in the final chapter of her life, she found solace and companionship at Abbeyfield House. It was there that she rediscovered happiness and formed bonds with new friends who brought light into her life.

JoAnn’s legacy is one of warmth, love, and unwavering support. Her presence in our lives was a gift, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rest easy, Jo Ann. Your love and light will continue to guide us even in death.

There will be an informal celebreation of life at the Demers Residence on Thursday, August 15 at 2:00 pm.
