Obituary of Colleen Julie Ann Gies

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Colleen Julie Ann Gies, who left this world on July 31, 2024, in Fort St John, BC. Colleen was born on July 1, 1939, in Kitchener, Ontario, to her loving parents Norma and Harold Ariss. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Jim, and a cherished mother to her daughters Kim and Cheryl (Jim), and her sons Chris (Sheryl) and Jeff (Shelley). Colleen was also a grandmother and great-grandmother to many, and her love and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

 

Colleen's life was marked by love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to her family. She was predeceased by her parents, Norma and Harold, her brothers Greg and Randy, her son Kevin, and her grandson Joshua. Their memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who loved Colleen.

 

Throughout her life, Colleen found joy in the simple pleasures, and she had a passion for knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. Her skilled hands created countless beautiful and cherished pieces that will continue to bring comfort and warmth to her loved ones. She also had a love for sports, and she enjoyed playing baseball, golf, and, in her senior years, she took up floor curling, where she found camaraderie and joy in the company of friends.

 

Colleen's love for her family was immeasurable, and she was a devoted fan of her children and grandchildren's sports endeavors. She cheered them on with unwavering support and pride, and her presence at their games and events was a source of great joy for both her and her loved ones.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Peace Villa (Willow) for their love and support during Colleen's final days. Their compassionate care provided comfort and solace during a difficult time, and their kindness will always be remembered.

 

Colleen’s  presence in our lives brought immeasurable love and joy, and her memory will forever be cherished. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
