Robert (Bob) Gerald Carnell
May 7, 1941 - May 16, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Bob Carnell, 83, on May 16, 2024 in Fort St. John, BC.

Bob was born on May 7, 1941 in Cut Knife, Sask. He married the girl ‘who was perfect for him’, Carole, moved west to work and together raised 3 children.
 

Bob was a heavy-duty mechanic for many years before moving into the gas industry as an operator where he retired after many years. He loved to spend time with family. Many hours were spent on rivers throughout Western Canada, when the kids were young, with long trips in the riverboat. He was one of the original River Rats. Many years were spent camping all over BC and Alberta, hunting, quadding, snowmobiling, and playing cards, dice, and board games at home.
 

Bob was always busy and active. He loved to tinker and build. He loved to be outside working, building, gardening, and just playing. Each birthday he would tease the whole family that he was ‘17’ again, but he lived like he was ‘17’. He had a way of leaving a memory with everyone he met and spent time with. He will be greatly missed.

Bob was preceded in death by his granddaughters, Sarah and Amber Olsen. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole, his children: Christine (Ron) Mann, Shauna (Dave) Olsen, and Neil (Geilan) Carnell, grandchildren: Michael Olsen, Nicole and Brennan Mann, Tara and Heather Carnell, and great-grandchildren: Maxwell and Linden Olsen.

His memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will continue inspiring all fortunate enough to have known him. Rest in peace, Bob!
 

A Celebration of Life will be held for Bob on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 2:00pm at the Fort St. John Legion.
