Rob McCabe

Obituary of Rob McCabe

Robert "Rob" Kearney Hammond McCabe, a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 28, 2024, in Fort St John, British Columbia. He was born on September 19, 1964, in Whitby, Ontario, to his loving parents, Robert Kearney McCabe and Catherine Thompson (Hammond) McCabe.

Rob was a man of immense love and compassion, raised with a proud Scottish heritage that shaped his character and values. He was known for his big heart and open-door policy, always welcoming friends, and family with open arms. His love for animals was evident in his life, and he cherished his ferrets, Abu, Fiona, and Bruin, as cherished members of his family.

A jack-of-all-trades, Rob was always willing to lend a helping hand, and his stubborn yet endearing bullheadedness was balanced by his playful nature and penchant for teasing and joking. He was a ladies' man, known for his charm and wit, and his love for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds.

Rob found joy in building computer towers and was a dedicated employee at Casey's Pub, Econo-lodge, and Sobeys. He enjoyed gaming with his children and grandchildren, and spending time watching his favorite shows. His love for coffee was unwavering, and he cherished the moments spent sitting down for a cup with loved ones.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by his sister Penny Martin, daughters, Danielle (Clinton), Brittany (Maverick), Destiny, Emylie (Kaleb), Kelly-Lynne, Julia, and Chantelle, and his sons, Nick, and Kyle. His grandchildren, James, Tiera, Kathleen, Oakley, Isaac, Jack, Ulric, Zoey, Xander, and Boston, will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Rob was predeceased by his parents, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. A service to honor his life will be held at Peace Island Park’s Chipmunk quad site on June 3, 2024, at 2pm, allowing those who cherished him to come together and celebrate the impact he had on their lives.  It will be a potluck style BBQ, don’t forget to bring a chair.

In the wake of Rob's passing, his family and friends find solace in the memories of his warmth, humor, and unwavering love. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Rob, and may your spirit continue to bring joy and comfort to those who hold you dear.
