Obituary of Alice Miles

Alice Beatrice Miles, born on October 4, 1925, in Aylmer, Quebec, passed away on May 4, 2024, in Fort St John, BC. Her life was one of love, adventure, and dedication to her family and country. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. 

 

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, James Miles, and her sons, Micheal and Phillip Miles. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Richards, and son-in-law, Dale, as well as her daughter-in-law, Hazel, and her grandchildren, Shannon Miles, Adam Richards, Aimee Giesbrecht and her husband Dan, and Matthew Richards. She also leaves behind a legacy of great-grandchildren, including Shanel Miles, Grace Neilson, Chantal Richards, Tegan Polehoykie, Morgan Giesbrecht, Kinsley Giesbrecht, Natalie Richards, and Haileigh Richards. 

 

 Alice was a woman of many passions and talents. She found joy in the great outdoors, spending her days swimming in rivers and lakes, skating, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing in the winter. She had a green thumb and took great pride in her garden, as well as in picking wild berries. She also enjoyed biking and taking long walks, embracing the beauty of nature at every opportunity. 

 

At the age of 21, Alice embarked on a professional journey that would shape her life and leave an indelible mark on those around her. She began her career in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps, where she served with honor and distinction. Her dedication to her country was unwavering, and she continued to serve as a civil servant with the federal government until her well-deserved retirement.  

 

Alice's kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family were the cornerstones of her life. She was a pillar of support and a source of wisdom for all who knew her. Her laughter and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends. In her passing, Alice leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. 

 

Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Rest in peace, Alice. 

 

Your love and light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those you left behind.

 

Memorial service for Alice will be held Wednesday, May 15 at 11:00 am at the Catholic Church of the Resurrection. Those wishing to make donations in her memory can do so to the Fort St. John Catholic Church of the Resurrection.
