Obituary of Brent Richard Carlson
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brent Richard Carlson, long-time resident of Fort Nelson, British Columbia. Brent passed peacefully in his sleep at the Fort Nelson Hospital on March 1st, 2024.
Brent was a charismatic, hard-working, and fun-loving person who will be remembered for his infectious laugh, cheeky grin, and his ability to make friends wherever he went.
Brent was born on January 21st, 1963 in High Prairie, Alberta to parents, Arne and Irene Carlson. Brent was the oldest of three siblings, he took his eldest brother duties very seriously growing up, as he looked out for his little sister and razzed his little brother.
After graduating high school, Brent wasted no time before beginning his life-long career of driving truck. He hauled logs, moved rigs, machinery, fuel, and everything in between. He travelled many miles all over the country, and with his knowledge and many years of experience, he was always willing to mentor anyone who was willing to learn. Though the hours were long, and the work was hard, Brent truly loved his job, the highway was a part of his soul.
Brent traveled to many different places and made friends everywhere he went. He loved a good gathering of people, even if he didn’t know them – he knew them well by the end of it.Brent also had a knack for telling stories, his family and friends share fond memories of sharing a bottle of whiskey and listening to Brent talk about his adventures – no matter the topic, he always had his listeners on the edge of their seat.
Not only was Brent an amazing storyteller, he was also an impressive outdoorsman. Brent loved exploring the great outdoors, whether he was cruising the open road in his flatbed truck, fishing for pike and trout, or on one of his legendary hunting trips. He cherished his sledding trips to Haines, Alaska – he had wild adventures behind that skidoo.
Brent is predeceased by his parents, Arne and Irene Carlson.
He is survived by his daughter, Haley Parenteau (Kyle); his siblings, Trevor Carlson (Kelly) and Tracy Keay (Dale), and countless other family and friends who will miss him deeply.
Brent, a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend to all – thanks for all the laughs, the big bear hugs, and always being able to put a smile on our faces. You will forever be missed, and we love you dearly. We’ll see you on the other side, where the highway is always open, the whiskey flows, and the two-stepping and truckin’ never end.
