Obituary of Colin Bennie

Obituary Colin was born December 4, 1943 inCalgary. As a new born still in thehospital an uncle took one look at Colinand said Buck Bennie rides again.The nick name stayed with him for the restof his life. Colin started his school years inCrossfield. At 12 the family moved toNakusp, but during the summer Colinreturned to Crossfield to work on a farm.Then the next summer he took a jobrunning a tug boat. At age 16 Colin and hisfamily moved to Terrace. This is about thetime Colin?s interest started to change, he went to work running a forklift anda friend of the family taught him to drive a truck. This started his truckingdays. Colin continued to drive truck and live in Terrace where he met and wasmarried to Shirley. His first child Theresa was born. Shortly after her birth thefamily moved to Kamloops. Before long Colin bought his own truck andstruck out on his own. This is where Katherine, Colin and Stephen were born.Colin moved to Vernon and continued to drive truck, this time for his brother.Here he met Vi and her two children Vicki and Kevin. Shortly after Colinfollowed his brother to Fort St. John in the fall of 1977 to work in the oil patch.He took a small break from trucking while recovering from a broken ankle andfoot, where he dispatched trucks. After returning to trucking Colin found anew hobby. Pony chariots, where he followed the circuit for a few years.Restless Colin moved back to Kamloops for a short time, before returningback to Fort St. John with Carol and her two girls Leanne and Lynette. Colincontinued to drive truck this time for Federly Transportation where he stayeduntil his last days. In the slower times Colin helped his brother in the RVshop. They started to do a lot of camping and ATVing. He also enjoyed hisannual hunting trips. They would go by horse back into the mountains for acouple of weeks at a time. In 1996 Colin met his soul mate Yvonne and herfour children Keith, Kevin, Darlene and Debra. Shortly after Colin and Yvonnebought a fifth wheel trailer with the intent of living in it and doing sometraveling. After the first winter the plans changed a little and they did somehouse sitting in the winter months, before getting a place of their own.Yvonne started operating a pilot car for Federly Transport. They began as ateam transporting heavy oversize loads across the provinces. Colin andYvonne were married at Okeife?s Ranch in Vernon on August 3, 2001.They continued to travel on and off work until his later days. Colin was agrandfather to 18 grandchildren and step grandchildren. He will be sadlymissed.
