Obituary of Garth Wilson

Obituary Garth Loyed Wilson1949 - 2007Garth Loyed Wilson was born in the Fort St John Providence Hospital on August 09, 1949, the eldest son of six children of David and Pearl Wilson of Rose Prairie, B.C. Garth attended the Upper Pine school in the summer, and attended the Wonowon school or by correspondence in the winter as his father logged and had his own sawmill in the Wonowon area. After his father sold the saw mill in 1960 he then attended the Upper Pine School until 1963 when the family moved to Antler, B.C. where Garth finished his schooling. During his younger years Garth attended many Fall Fairs where he did pony riding with his horse Ranger in which he won many ribbons for, this he enjoyed immensely, he loved animals. Garth and his two brothers built "a boys only" log cabin in the trees at Antler which he was very proud of, he enjoyed this so much that he later built his dream home, a log house on his farm in Cecil Lake, B.C. Garth joined the work force at a young age as a logger which included scaling and skidding. He then worked for Gordon Graber's farm as a foreman in the summer and for Superior Oilfield Services hauling mud in the winter. Garth went on to work for his Uncle Jim Wilson in his garage in Fort St John which he enjoyed and went on to further his training and apprenticed at Moe Martin Chev Olds to become a fully licensed mechanic. On December 12, 1970 Garth married Maureen Smith, he worked as a mechanic and later moved to Cecil Lake, B.C. where he farmed and continued to mechanic for Moe Martin's until they closed, he then was employed by Dave's Garage. On March 24, 1977 Garth and Maureen had a beautiful baby daughter Tanalea Lynn, she was the apple of her fathers eye. After working for Dave's Garage, Garth went to work as a chemical engineer for Rick Donofrio, contractor for Ceda. In the early 80's Garth moved into Fort St John where he continued to work for Rick with Ceda, then for Donofrio Enterprises Ltd., during these years Garth won numerous safety awards, belt buckles, and an award for 5,000,000 accident free miles. On October 18, 2003 Garth married Pat Macintosh they lived in Fort St John with their two puppies Sooner and Gypsie, he continued to work for Donofrio Enterprises Ltd. until his passing.Garth was well known for his happy smiling face whether it be at work or when he always took the time to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.On December 29, 2007 Garth passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Garth was predeceased by his father David Wilson, Grandparents Earle and Jessie Wilson, Charles and Lily Babcock, and stepfather Morris Hunter. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Pat , mother Pearl Hunter, daughter Tanalea (Cory) Hermans and two grandchildren Tianna and Braeden, brothers Darryl (Dianne), Stanley, sisters Molly (Dale)Madison, Linda (Bob)Slavik, Margy (Jerry)Becker, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. He is sadly missed by all.The family would like to thank Dr Thompson, all the wonderful nurses, palliative care, home care nursing, and all the family and friends for their kindness and heartfelt sympathy shown throughout Garth's illness and in his passing.
