Obituary of Wanda Augustine
Obituary Wanda Augustine was born on November 24th, 1928 in Angeline, Ukraine to parents Emma & Edmund Freheit. The family of four including sister Mina travelled from Ukraine to Vancouver, where sister Elsie was born. In 1931 the family settled down on a 20 acre farm in Pitt Meadows where siblings Selma-Adeline, Walter, Eddie, Linda and David were born. Wanda, being one of the eldest children, took it upon herself to help her mother with a lot of the parenting of the younger children. After high school Wanda rented a house in Pitt Meadows and worked at Struthers General Store. At the age of 20, she enrolled in the nursing program at Essondale Hospital. Wanda also met her future husband Eric in Pitt Meadows and the two were happily married in 1950. Eric and Wanda soon started a family of their own. Dennis arrived in 1952, Corinne in 1954, Daryl in 1955 and David in 1958. Her busy life then got much busier but she still found time to garden, can and freeze vegetables and fruit, bake fresh bread and buns and even sew the children?s clothing. When the children were approaching adulthood the family decided on the Peace River country as their new home. Wanda was always supportive of the farming operations, and was very actively involved in every aspect. Wanda and Eric were very active in the North Peace Horse Shoe Club, Seniors Bowling league and the Blueberry Bible Camp. In 1997 Wanda, Eric and Corinne moved into their own farm were Wanda planted a very productive vegetable garden. The great volumes of produce resulted in ?care packs? for her grandchildren. Wanda was up for any challenge big or small and at the age of 70 finally fulfilled her dream of going white water rafting. She laughed non-stop during the whole ride with absolute delight. Wanda was pre-deceased by her husband Eric in 1998, and is survived by her four siblings, Elsie, Adeline, Linda and David and also by her four children and their families; Dennis and Lolita and their children Carmen, Sonja, Yvonne and Sabrina, Corrine, Daryl and Mary, and David and Denise and their children Jenna and Brandon. Wanda devoted her life to supporting and caring for her family. She wanted us all to know that when she looked back over the years, she was very satisfied with her life. Wanda lived life to the fullest and with intensity, enjoying every step of the way and will forever live on in our hearts.
