Obituary of Moneca Tanner

Obituary Moneca Tanner was born February 12, 1941 in Edmonton Alberta. Parents Gus and Emily raised Moneca along with brother Floyd. In 1958 at the Fort St. John Rodeo dance Moneca met the dashing young Heath. They swept each other off their feet and were married May 11, 1960 in Edmonton. Not only were they best friends but equal partners in life giving 100% to each other. After the wedding, Moneca quickly learned the life of an oilfield surveyer's wife. When they started their own business, Moneca would run the town end of the business ensuring the crew (her boys) had what they needed to complete their job. For many years she accomplished this at the same time she ran the household and worked a second job. Heath and Moneca farmed in the Buick Creek area from 1964 to 1989. Heath has many fond and proud stories of Moneca hauling grain to town, running the farm equipment, and helping fix things when he needed small hands to get into tight corners. Beautiful and stylish, Moneca could slip into a set of work clothes and pitch in with all her might. It seems the farming did not keep them busy enough in the summer so Heath and Moneca purchased an orchard in the Penticton area close to her parents. Heath continued surveying in the winter oilfields and together with her parents, the two successfully ran and owned a number of motels. After a series of moves, Moneca and Heath eventually settled in Fort St. John. With this move they grew closer to Heath's mother, Wilma. It was through Wilma that Moneca learned the ropes of being a domestic goddess. Through the years, Heath, with his crust of gruffiness, has tried to cover his heart of gold. As a perfect complement, Moneca built her gentle and soft nature on a core of strength and will, that always put Heath's best interests first. One of the most remarkable and admirable aspects of Moneca's nature (which we all benefited from) was her never ending positive outlook. She always, always saw the best in people and she would never speak ill of anyone. Heath and Moneca have contributed extensively to their community. While Moneca's first love was Heath, her second love was quilting. When they moved to their new house, it was her sewing room that was set up first. She has graced many friends with her masterpieces, and Heath still has many of her works of art to comfort him. Moneca and Heath traveled the world visiting Australia, Asia, Europe and exotic islands. They shared a love for music, friends and family. Together they shared many such times simply enjoying each other's company. We will all miss Moneca and the tremendous impact she had on our lives. Heath will be without his map and his life partner. Thank you Moneca, we are better people from having known you. Moneca, our lady of style, dignity and grace. Forever will you be in our hearts. Services
