Obituary Obituary for the lateMarcel Drapeau 1952 - 2008 Marcel Albert Drapeau was born in Laposse Ontario on August 24, 1952. He was the second child born to the proud parents of Denis and Marie-Mae-Drapeau. Marcel had 9 siblings; six brothers and three sisters. At the age of 16 Marcel left home and began his journey throughout Canada. He worked in various places and made many dear friends. In the mid seventies he made his way to Edmonton where he met Margaret, his wife-to-be. In 1980 they moved to Fort St. John and decided to call it home. They bought property at mile 63.5 and built their first home, raising four children, Philip, Candace, Logan and Vivian. Marcel was a carpenter by trade and set up his own business, MD Contracting. His sons Philip and Logan also worked alongside him. He was well known in the community through his business and his many encounters with other people. He was always ready to have a cold beer with you on or off the job. Marcel always made an impression or impact on everyone he met. By this he will always be remembered. You don't always remember your handyman, but you always remembered Marcel. Marcel enjoyed the company of family and friends at home, and made everyone feel welcome when stopping in. He was always in good humor and loved to laugh, or make others laugh. In the summer he liked to go boating and fishing. Come fall his gun was taken out for the elk and moose hunt. He always managed to fill his deep freeze whether there were horns or not. We all have our special memories of Marcel; he remains a part of us and will never be forgotten. Though our hearts are filled with much sadness, he will not want us to mourn his death, but celebrate his life. He would want us to laugh again.
