Obituary of Guy Fraser
Obituary Guy (Harold) Fraser was born to Charles and Violet on November 16, 1932 in the family home at Island Hill Saskatchewan. He had a ready-made family of Mark, Dorothy and Joan from his father's first marriage and Ira was born a few years later. Guy attended Fraser Valley School which was named after his family through the luck of a community draw. Guy showed his sense of humor at an early age playing pranks in school and letting his brother Ira beat him home with a sweaty horse. At a young age Guy and his dad travelled west to Alberta to find work. For several years Guy worked on bridge crews before he returned to Green Lake Saskatchewan. By this time his mother had married Gus Porat and Guy worked for him in the logging industry, logging by horse, operating cat and driving truck. Guy had two more siblings Bob and Elizabeth. In 1955 Guy married his love Ethel Hounsell and son Gerald was born in 1956 followed by Michael in 1959. They resided in Green Lake Saskatchewan until 1965 when Guy left his family and headed to Fort Nelson to find work. Ethel and the boys joined him there in 1966. Guy drove truck for the mills in Fort Nelson, Prince George and Chetwynd, BC. In 1968 Guy finally settled his family in Fort St. John where he drove truck in the oil patch. His truck driving career was with several companies; Northwest (Oliver Jones), Harold Esau, Hertz Brothers, Ardill's Construction, Bergie's HotShot, Swanberg and finally his own company Guy's Trucking. Although he retired in 1999 he continued to work occasionally for Mike Kosick. Guy enjoyed the outdoors throughout his life and shared this love by starting his sons hunting on horseback at an early age. Don Janzen and the boys were his constant hunting companions. Along with hunting he loved fishing, boating, water skiing, curling and baseball. As many of us know Guy had a magical touch with dogs, horses and kids of all ages. Kids loved his company and Guy would go out of his way to put a smile on their faces with a pull behind the snowmobile or boat or horse. Kids of Pomeroy Subdivision also learned not to move the outhouse at Halloween, as Guy already had. Guy became a first time Papa to Christopher in 1982. He did not want to be called Grandpa as he was too young. He gained four more grandchildren with Morgan, Kayla, Lauren and Bryce. Guy spent a number of years at gymkhanas and team roping with his friends and family and happily watching his grandchildren grow. Papa was always there to wipe a tear, talk to or hide you. Guy was predeceased by his father Charles, brother Mark, sisters Dorothy and Joan, and grandson Christopher. He leaves to mourn his mother Violet, wife of 53 years Ethel and sons Gerald (Sharon), Mike (Aspen), and grandchildren Morgan, Kayla, Lauren and Bryce. Guy you will be forever in our hearts. Dad and Papa you will be greatly missed
