Obituary of Frances Richter
Obituary Frances was born September 11, 1922 in Bodo Alberta to Anna and Alex Scheck. She had ten brothers and sisters; Valentine, Conrad, Mike, Peter, Manny Scheck, Clara Heck, Lizzy Ollenberger, Eve Chuilli and Theresa Pike. Frances family moved to the Peace River area in the 1930s to Moose Creek. They later moved to Charlie Lake where Frances went to school. Their next move was to Baldonnel, where they lived in an old farm house for many years. Frances ventured to town to work at the Fort St. John Hospital for a few years, this is where she met Joe. The Richter boys spent a lot of time doing all kinds of volunteer work around the Fort St. John Hospital. Frances and Joe were married on November 25, 1942. After Frances and Joe were married, they moved into an apartment above Dave's Garage (Frances brother-in-law) down town Fort St. John for a few years. They then moved to the homestead Joe bought and farmed on the truck bypass. In May 1944 their only son Emil was born. In 1954 they had moved the homestead farm house closer to town on the Airport Road and stayed there until they built a brand new home back on the farm in 1974. Frances was a member of the CWL and she enjoyed going to town to help with banquets for all the things going on at the hall. She often helped on the farm when Joe needed help. The garden Joe grew kept Frances very busy with picking and canning in the fall. This garden was one that would feed many mouths over the winter. You could set your watch for coffee time with Frances; 10am to 3pm. At this time you would always see Joe heading for the house. When you would sit out on the deck Frances would immediately open the patio door and come out with a tray of coffee, tea and sweets of some kind. Frances cupboards always had molasses cookies, white cake or puff wheat squares and a real treat at least once a week was her famous cinnamon buns. Frances last move was to the North Peace Lutheran Care Home in 2000 and Joe joined her in 2005. She felt very much at home and loved all the staff and was treated like family. The family would like to Thank Dr. Becky Temple and all the care home staff for their great work, love and patience from many years with Frances. Frances was predeceased by all her brothers and sisters except for Theresa Pike Dick and family of Great Falls Montana. She is survived by her loving husband Joe for 66 years, son Emil, daughter-in-law Connie, granddaughter Marnie, Kent and Kona, Kane, granddaughter Stacey, Tony and Beckham, special friends Donna and Larry Solodan Reid and Deanne and families as well as numerous, nephews, friends and all the people at the North Peace Care Center.
