Obituary of Karl Hunszinger
Obituary Hunszinger, Karl1936 - 2009 On Monday, February 9th, Karl passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Karl was born on September 26, 1936 in Yugoslavia. He was raised in the small Bavarian town of Neuffen, Germany. In 1966, Karl and his young family immigrated to Canada and before long he had built a farm in Charlie Lake and had begun working as a machinist at Peacock (Curtis Hoover). In his journey from machinist to Branch Manager, he learned great compassion for his co-workers and developed strong relationships with people in our community. Karl was passionate about his work. Whether ensuring the well-being of his co-workers and the success of the company, or running his farm, he put 100% of his effort into everything he did. This work ethic was passed on to his sons as they spent countless hours working alongside him on the farm, and even at Curtis Hoover.During his retirement, Karl was able to spend more time doing some of the things he loved, including sailing and fishing, and of course, all of the associated planning, repairing and maintenance involved. He filled his days with his wife, working on projects around the farm and taking long walks with his dog, always enjoying the beauty of the Peace Country that he was proud to call home.Karl taught us to put family above all and will be lovingly remembered by his wife Angelika, his sons Peter (Lisa) and John (Jennifer), his grandchildren Kristina, Connor, Michelle and Leanne, his brother Helmut (Liane) and his niece and nephew, Frank and Bianca. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation or the Fort St. John Palliative Care Society.
