Obituary of Jeanette Haugen

Obituary Nina Jeanette Haugen (Temple) was born on October 16, 1916 in Birch Hills Saskatchewan, to parent John and Nina Temple. Jeanette remained the only child for twelve years, at which time younger sister Clara was welcomed into the family. Jeanette lived with her family and attended school in the town of Birch Hills until 1931. At this time the Temple family moved to the homestead in the Montney area. Walking to and from school every day, Jeanette continued her education at the Clayton school. Jeanette married Ralph Haugen on August 12, 1942. The young couple moved to Ralph's homestead in Doe River for a couple of months following their wedding. They then moved to the farm in Montney in the fall of 1942, this became their permanent home, and has continued to remain in the family to this day. On December 11, 1943 Jeanette and Ralph became parents to Louis Ralph. Jeanette was a real farm girl, she enjoyed many types of animals but her main interests were her goats and her chickens, selling milk from the goats and eggs from the chickens. Jeanette always grew a large vegetable garden, did lots of canning, and was a good seamstress. Jeanette cleaned rooms at the Titus Rooming House in Fort St. John in the early 1960's. Alice joined the family when she moved to the farm in the fall of 1968. Jeanette was a care giver for a number of friends and community members over the years; always ready to help out when help was needed. Jeanette lost her husband, Ralph, in May of 1982. She continued to stay and work on the farm for a few years before moving to town, where she lived in the Peace Lutheran Apartments. Jeanette lost her only child, Louis, to cancer on July 31, 2006. Jeanette is also predeceased by her parents, John and Nina Temple, and her husband Ralph. Jeanette is survived by her sister; Clara Mjogdal, her daughter in law; Alice Eason, nephew; Vernon Mjogdal, niece; Noreen Kramer, and various other relatives. Jeanette passed away on February 26, 2009 at the age of 92, in Fort St. John, British Columbia. And although Jeanette will be missed by her family and friends they can take comfort in knowing that she led a good, long life. Services
