Obituary of Tom Ward

Obituary Thomas William Ward, better known as Tom, was born November 22, 1921 in Bury, Quebec. At 16 months old Tom was adopted and became Lynden Scott Coates. At the age of 16 after his adopted father passed away, he returned to his birth parents and his original name. When Tom was 17, he enlisted in the Canadian Army, where he spent 7 life altering years. While stationed in London, England he met Joyce Fautley, it was love at first sight. They were married December 31, 1945. Tom and Joyce gave birth to son Lynden on June 15, 1950. He passed away on an oil rig in January 1973. Lynden was married and had one daughter, Katherine, who is married to Mitch Brown and farms in High Level, Alberta. On February 4, 1962 Tom and Joyce gave birth to a daughter, Christine, who is now married to Terry Rempel. They had one daughter, Tanya, who is married to Aaron Boyd and one son Aedan. Tom's adventures in his life read like a story book; racing sled dogs, working in the Arctic at 70 below, riding railroad cars across Canada, guarding Buckingham Palace while a soldier, paratrooper, rodeoing, working on a ranch in Alberta with Wilf Carter, and the list goes on. Tom had a variety of occupations. Guide and outfitter, oil rig worker, farmer, rancher, working on Shell oil boats, repairing elevators, logger, sawmill worker, working on cargo boats, and working on the Alaska Highway. Tom enjoyed the simple things in life. Bird watching, hunting, fishing, working in the Husky penalty box, gardening, woodworking, and sitting around the campfire at night with friends and family. Tom will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.May he rest in peace. Services
