Obituary DONALD WADE OSTASHEK July 28, 1958 - November 01, 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Wade Ostashek (Donny) announces that Donny passed away quietly and peacefully on Sunday, November 01, 2009 in Fort McMurray, Alberta at the age of 51. Donny was born on July 28, 1958 in Fort St. John, BC to parents Nick and Lydia Ostashek. Donny was the oldest of four children. Growing up in Fort St. John he enjoyed playing hockey, golfing, skiing, bowling and Army Cadets. He loved being outdoors and was always happiest when fishing, especially fly-fishing. Donny graduated from North Peace Senior Secondary School in June, 1977 and shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy with posting to Esquimalt BC and Halifax NS. He served on several different ships and was trained as a ship's electrician. Donny travelled the world while serving his country. He came home from each new journey with wonderful memories and a new tattoo to remind him of his travels. Donny rose to the rank of Leading Seaman and in 1986; he left the Navy with an Honourable Discharge. Donny returned to Fort St. John and continued with his electrical training. He received his provincial and inter-provincial tickets as a Journeyman Electrician and worked in both the construction and oil and gas industries throughout northern BC and Alberta.
