Obituary of Dora Eklund

Obituary Dora Rachinski was born November 3rd, 1912 and raised in Clair, Saskatchewan.At the age of 97 she passed away peacefully on February 12, 2010 at the Rotary Manor Care Home in Dawson Creek. Dora married Arthur Eklund December 1st, 1934. They moved to Sunrise/Two Rivers area in October 1935, only to return back to Saskatchewan for 3 years, then moved back to Sunrise area for 37 years before selling the farm and moving into Fort St. John in 1972.Dora leaves to mourn 11 children; Gordon (wife Anne) of Red Deer, Alberta, Leonard (wife Rose) of Fort St. John, Henry of Fort St. John, Florence Fisher of Edmonton, Alberta, Raymond (wife Darlene) of Cold Lake, Alberta, Eleanor McKinley of Kamloops, BC, Victor (wife Hazel) of Fort St. John, Sheila Monkman (husband Wayne) of Terrace BC, Sandra Foster (husband Garry) of Fort St. John, Diana Miller of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Darlene Hadland (husband Dale) of Fort St. John, BC.25 grandchildren, 47 great grand children and 5 great, great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn siblings: Joe, Metro, Pauline, Olga, Jean, Marie (Henry), Nick (Dorie), Maurice, and sister in law Mary Lou. Dora is predeceased by her parents Anton and Helen Rachinski, stepmother Anne, husband Arthur Eklund in 1974 and son Ernest Arthur who passed away at the age of 5 in 1949. Brothers: Mike, Albin, and John. Sisters: Lena, Victoria, Nellie and Regina. Dora chose to serve God in 1931, living faithfully to the end, her faith in God touched many lives. We all have memories of her love for gardening, knitting, crocheting, cooking, canning, baking bread, seeing her grandchildren and reading her bible. Funeral services were held Friday, February 19th 2010 at the Taylor Community Hall with burial following at the Fort St. John City Cemetery.
