Obituary of Geraldine Phelan

Obituary Geraldine Amelia Phelan (Neighbor) of Fort St. John passed away February 9, 2011 at the Fort St. John Hospital at 68 years of age. Geraldine was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan on January 15, 1943 to parents Harry and Muriel Neighbor. She attended L.V. Rogers High School in Nelson, British Columbia, moving on to work in Vancouver, British Columbia. It was in Vancouver where she met Claude Ambrose Phelan whom she married on May 10, 1969 in Nelson, British Columbia. Claude and Geraldine lived in the lower mainland from 1969 to 1978. The two gave birth to their son Dwayne Phelan on February 5, 1973 followed by the birth of their daughter Denise Phelan on September 27, 1974. The family then moved up to the Fort St. John area in 1978. Claude and Geraldine were blessed with a grandson, Andrew Phelan, on September 28, 2000. Geraldine is predeceased by her parents Harry and Muriel Neighbor, her son Dwayne Phelan in 1995 and her sister Helen Olson. Geraldine is survived by her best friend and beloved husband Claude Phelan, her loving daughter Denise Phelan, her cherished grandson Andrew Phelan as well as numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. A celebration of life will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 2:00pm from the Royal Canadian Legion Hall. If so desired expressions of sympathy can be made in memory of Geraldine to the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation. The Phelan family would like to thank Dr. W. Brussow, Dr. Abdalla and all the nurses for all the care and attention that they gave to Geraldine while she was in the hospital.
