Obituary of Jack Gladysz

Obituary Jack Frank Gladysz was born May 7th, 1953 in Fort St John. Jack was an active child always smiling and could be found following his older siblings around asking "let me see, or let me try" whether it be the on farming equipment or taking apart an engine on his mother's kitchen floor in the winter. Jack graduated high school and went to Grande Prairie College. He returned to Charlie Lake in 1973 to take over the farm with his brother Gene. He continued to farm until his passing. He loved the farming, but more than that he loved the fixing and engineering which came with the farm equipment. Jack first met his wife Dawn in 1963 when she was visiting his sister and brother in law. This 8 year old girl was nothing but an unwelcome nuisance. When he was 16 she came back for a visit and little by little he fell in love. July 1, 1978 Jack stood with his trademark grin in Saskatoon and married his soul mate. They continued to farm and in those early years during the winter Jack worked off farm at Dave's Garage. He challenged his mechanic license and had no problem passing the test. Jack was definitely a true "Jack of all trades". From fixing machinery to building their home on the farm to plumbing, welding, electrical, computers whatever the task Jack had the skill to get it done. They had the joy of parenting three wonderful children, Joseph, Timothy and Trisha. Each one of his children brought him pleasure and he was very proud for each and every accomplishment they have made along their life's journey. He was always there for his children. He took on many jobs because of them. He was a Scout Leader, president of the Speed Skating Club and Cycling Club. Because of Jack's computer expertise, he became the first webmaster for BC Speed Skating Association and the association was the first to publish Canadian results on the internet. He also did the Blizzard Bike Club website. No matter what the kids wanted he was there to do it. From travelling to fund raising everything was possible. In July of 2011 Jack was diagnosed with Stomach Cancer. As devastating as this was he met the challenge with a smile and determination to live each day. He kept telling anyone who would listen, that he was realist and that he had had a great 58 years. He said he had no bucket list and no regrets. January 26th, 2012 Jack's passing was a total reminder of how he led his life. He smiled and laughed one last time. He then went quickly and quietly with his family surrounding him with their love in the comfort of their home. Jack touched the hearts of everyone he met and he will be remembered for his ready smile and the way he cared for others.
