Obituary of Cecil Elliott
Obituary Cecil Elliott, long-time resident of Pineview and Fort St. John, passed away at home on March 7, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lana-Gay (Cramer), son Allan (Terry) of Sherwood Park, AB and daughter Jenny Rondeau of Fort St. John, four grandchildren (Caitlyn Elliott, Ben Rondeau, Connor Elliott and Danae Rondeau), one sister, five brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Jennie, twin brother Carl, brothers Gordon and George, and sisters Olive Halbach and Elva Boyd.
Born in Goodwood, Ontario on September 2, 1926, Cecil and his twin brother were middle of a family of three girls and nine boys. He moved to the Peace Country in 1948, falling in love with the west after being posted to Vernon, BC, with the Canadian Army during World War II.
He farmed in Pineview from 1949 until 1994, when he and Lana-Gay retired to land overlooking his beloved farm. They moved into Fort St. John in 2008 due to his failing health.
Cecil was long known for his active involvement in the North Peace Fall Fair Society as well as the Farmer's Union, the Regional District, Fort St. John Co-op board of directors and as farmer-advisor for the BC Land Commission.
A memorial service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort St. John on Saturday, March 10, at 2:00 pm, with refreshments and a time of sharing to follow the service. Family will have a private interment at North Pine Cemetery at a later date. Expressions of sympathy can be made in memory of Cecil to the Fort St. John Hospital Foundation.
