Kelly you have been passing this love along to everyone every since I met you at nursery school (16 years ago)! All one has to do is look at all the young folks who lovingly call you Momma Bent! I also am the receipent of this from both of your wonderful young ladies -- one who calls me mom and they both give me wonderful hugs whenever I see them! Thinking of all your family during this difficult time! Keep all your wonderful memories close by and know that Kirk is now one of a very special group of guardian angels!!!!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lynne, Kirk's children and the entire family. Kirk was a great friend. Very rarely was I with Kirk and we weren't laughing. I am so grateful to have so many awesome memories of times spent with Kirk. Kirk was a hard worker and a great athlete. I'm pretty sure he beat me at everything we ever played. He once even beat me at golf, using only his putter. I can honestly say, as competitive as we were, and as many times as I came in second we truly measured the success of our endeavours by how much we laughed. I can only pray that your children and my children have found or will find friendships like the one we had. Love you buddy.Shane and Family

Winnie, John, Kelly, Kyle, Peter, Lynne and Kirk's children. We know no words will take away the pain that you are feeling right now. We have so many fond memories of Kirk, who has touched the lives of many people. His winning smile, his charm and his way of bugging you one minute and making you laugh the next. Neil has been travelling through his memories of childhood with the Bent family and the many times he spent with Kirk. I have heard of the big swing, piling wood for 50 cents and PEI trips to no end. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Grieve your loss but celebrate his life. Take care Melanie (Newell) and Neil Sullivan

The first time i worked with Kirk we were in a camp called Keypile (Ft Nelson) and after he showed me his big white Bible we talked about Family and growing up. That was around 15 years ago. Since then he has helped make me into who i am today and what i do. He not only trained me but at least another half dozen chainman to become party chiefs so Mcelhanney Fort St John office is what it is today partly because of Kirk. Kirk also saved my life by grabbing my shoulder and arm and pulling me in a helicopter as i was kneeling outside on the skid ready to do a hover exit. You see the tail rotor went into the top of a 20 foot tree and i was just about to jump thinking we were going to crash. At the time kirk pulled me in we were alot higher so i could have gotten serious injuries had i jumped. I also rememberd going on a hunt with him and Kirk shooting an elk a good distance down an overgrown cut line than dragging it back to his house and cleaning it. To all of Kirks relatives. I am so glad to have met Kirk in this age and hope to get to know you all in the next as i am a believer in Jesus Christ just like Kirk was. God Bless. Garret Golhof

Dear Winnie, John, Lynn and families: Our deepest sympathy on your loss of a wonderful son, sibling, husband and father. Kiirk will be remembered fondly by our family as a good friend to our son, Blair who played hockey with him and had many memorable times during their school years. He was a wonderful young man, full of fun and a good sport. He was one of the guys we enjoyed watching, on all the hockey trips with family. Please know that he is in God's hands now and will always be with you in your hearts. Our prayers are with all of you as you deal with this terrible loss. Love, Deanna, Win and family.

I am very fortunate to have grown up with a friend and classmate like Kirk. He made a lasting impression his first day of school hiding under his mom's desk. That was just the beginning of many wonderful memories of him as a great friend and competitive classmate. He could always bring a smile to my face. He will forever hold a special place in my heart as a true friend. For his family I pray God give you strength , please accept my heartfelt condolences. Samantha (Creamer) Pike

Kirk was the kid across the street, the childhood friend, the school chum, the fellow camper, the hockey player, the student, the popular high school athlete. He left Canso and become a valued employee, a cherished husband and a loving father. His trips back to Canso and his visits across the street will be cherished memories of a young man taken far too soon. To Lynne and family, John, Winnie, Kelly, Kyle, Peter and families, hold dear the memories of this fine husband, father, son, brother, uncle. To Kirk's friends, be proud that you are able to call him friend. We know that Kirk has begun to enjoy the promise of eternal life! Until we meet again, we love you, Kirk!Edmund & Mary

John, Winnie and other members of the Bent Family,I don't know where to find the words to express the deep sympathy I feel for you during this sad time. I have been thinking back to grade 3 at Hillside School and have recalled so many good things about that year. That class was an amazing group of young people and I am sure they have become respected citizens of this world. I was looking at pictures of the class today and remembered how neat Kirk's printing and writing always had to be, he wanted to do his best at all time. He and Marcy were well matched as friends and competitors but when one of them needed help, the other helped out and then the match was back on. It was a highlight year in my teaching memories in what continues to be an enjoyable job for me, this event sure throws grief and sadness on those good memories.I am sure he was a terrific husband and dad. Kelly, John, Winnie and all members of the Bent family; I am so sorry to hear of Kirk's passing. When I arrived in Canso at not quite 5yrs old Kelly was my first friend which meant Kirk was too. From sharing babysiters, to going to daycare together, to starting school, right up to becoming young adults graduating, I had a connection with the Bent kids and their parents. Kirk was a playmate; an "annoying little brother"; the one who told on us when Kelly and I got into trouble; a schoolmate; my best friend's brother; and my friend too. It is too soon for you all to have to say good-bye to a wonderful young man. To Lynne, may you find comfort in your children; the family you and Kirk created. You will surely find all of what you loved about Kirk in your kids. With deepest sympathy,Michelle & MarshallHalifax, NSMichelle Raoul Winters

My deepest condolences to the entire Bent Family and Kirk's friends. Kirk was a great athlete in high school. Everybody i think who played sports with him looked at him as a leader. He was very well respected growing up going to school at Canso High whether it be sports or academic. If you walked up the hallway in high school and seen Kirk, you would say that guy is a cool guy. My thoughts and prayers are with all the Bent Family and Kirk's friends at this time. Rest In Peace Kirk!! You definitely left a great legacy!!

There are so many words that I can use to describe my brother. He was a true friend, loving, dedicated, shy and playful, a torment, stubborn and a tease but he did everything with an open heart that was filled with kindness. He has been a blessing in my life and the life of my children. He gave his children a great example to follow and live by. He has left us all with memories that will make us laugh, cry and shake our heads in disbelief. But it will be easy to honour his memory with acts of kindness, because that is how Kirk lived. Everyday in amongst the teasing and torment were completely selfless acts of kindness, love and gratitude. These are the loving lasting memories that I will cherish forever. 1 Corinthians 13:7-- Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. To my Kirk, your love has filled my heart and until we are together again I will pass this love along to everyone I possibly can. Your sister,Kelly
