Obituary of Willa Paynter

Obituary Willa Paynter May 26 - 1934 to Oct 17 - 2012 Born at home in Arran, Sask. She was the 3rd child of Alfred and Evelyn Crone, and was a first generation Canadian She was tough, feisty and just a "tich" stubborn! Her Dad came home one day with a piano that he picked up at a sale. Mom and her sister Lois took lessons, but mom soon learned that she could play music by ear. We have never understood how a woman who could hear tones well enough to play by ear, couldn't sing! Growing up on the Prairies meant that she gave and received directions in North South East and West but if the road she was on curved, or if she had to negotiate a traffic circle, she became completely disoriented. Mom loved roses, lilies and the color RED. She loved summer, camping, fishing, country music, mountain ash trees, a good bonfire and the smell of wood smoke. She was a vicious scrabble player - a skill she learned from her mom. We all learned to can preserves, make pickles, jams and jellies. Her cake and cookie recipes have been handed down thru the generations. Mom was a great sewer, she sewed our school clothes. This week a few of the grandkids have told us how they wished they had had more time with their Grandma so that she could have taught them how to sew Mom liked Carol Anne's in her coffee, Okeefe's High Test Beer, Hot Dogs and Marshmallows beside a fire. She was the Queen of Sandwiches - Recently she told us she ate a "Relish Sandwich" while camping because she couldn't figure out how to turn the propane on in the camper! She considered salt and pepper a "spice" and made HORRIBLE soup, but she made wine out of anything! Dandelions, potatoes, beets, choke cherries, saskatoon berries, and even turnips. WE are all so proud to say we are "just like our mom". It means we are independent, forthright, tough and know how to stand up for ourselves. Rest in Peace We all loved you so much. Good night to ALL And to ALL a good night, I LOVED YOU ALL AND I HAD A GOOD LIFE! She is survived by: Her Sister - Lois Davidson. Her Brother - Harvey Crone (Shirley Crone). Her Sister-in-laws - George's Donna and Larry's Donna. Her daughters: Kathy Paynter (Randy Redmond), Carol Paynter, Susan Moss (Randy Wainwright). Her son Ed Paynter (Carol Paynter). Her Grandchildren: Becky Paynter, David Townsend, Casey Paynter, Dylan Paynter, Katie Paynter, Megan Cragg, Richard Wainwright, Kurtis Wainwright and her Great Grand-daughter Lexi Wertz.
