Obituary of Barbara MacLean

Obituary Barbara Ellen MacLean (nee Mattson) was born in Whitehorse on September 9th, 1954 to proud parents Vera and Olaf Mattson. Along with her sister Donnaa�"who was always by her sidea�"she spent her childhood in Haines Junction and Whitehorse. Barbara was fearless and talented at nearly everything she did; this was evident at an early age when she started racing dirt bikes. She shared a special connection with animals; she believed that every animal deserved the best life possible whether it was "Kevin the Calf" who spent more than a week in front of the basement fireplace, a flying squirrel the cat dragged in, an orphaned fawn or the growing herd of miniature horses and donkeys, and her beloved dogs Chloe and Izzy. She married her soulmate Ian MacLean in 1988 and on that day she never looked happier. They built a beautiful life and home together in Baldonnel, surrounded by family and friends. Together, they shared a love of ranching, the outdoors, home-cooked meals, NASCAR racing, and took many special trips. Ian and Barb would often talk long into the night about their lives and their plans. Barb was a deeply devoted mother and was very proud of her children Jason and Candice and her stepsons, Mike, Guy, Kevin, and Scott. She had a special relationship with her niece Claire and adored her grandchildren. While Barb was humble about her achievements, she was an exceptional artist, quilter, and sewer. She was happiest when she was working in her yard; her plants flourished under her love and attention. Barb spent many years volunteering for organizations in the North, whether it was with 4-H or Peace Gallery North. Barb was one of the strongest people this world will know, and overcame nearly every obstacle life put in her way. She taught her friends and family to do the same. Barbara will be forever in our hearts. Barbara is survived by: Husband: Ian MacLean Mother: Vera Mattson Children: Candice (Raven), Jason (Ashlea) and stepsons Mike (Vikki), Guy (Shelly), Kevin (Lori) and Scott (Sandy) Sister: Donna (Dan) Niece: Claire Grandchildren: Lucas, Lexie, Riley, Haylee, Bryce, Mason, Kyla, Ewan, Mallory and Tyler.
