I remember every time I went to the clinic and when I walked into his office at the clinic and he'd have his walls covered in baby photos because of all the baby's he'd delivered :)

For 20 years I have been greeted with "hello my friend, or how are you my friend" each and every time I visited Dr. Kassa's office. I am going to miss that. I have taken for granted that I have had the same doctor for nearly half my life, he is the only doctor that I have ever really known. There are times when I honestly thought he knew me better than I knew myself. It has been mentioned that he is leaving behind really big shoes to fill. Dr. Kassa was an amazing man, truly one of a kind, and for that reason I don't think his shoes will every be filled.Losing him so unexpectedly is hard for many of us; but he left behind his footprint in our hearts, in our lives, and in our memories. That footprint will keep us all going.Good-bye my friendKim Eglinski

We laughed a lot with Dr. Kassa as he re-told the unexpected events of his travels with Betty and other funny antidotes. We appreciated his genuine interest in us and our family and his professionalism at all times. He was always excited to show us his newest gadget and was especially proud of his ultrasound machine and how it could assist him in his diagnoses. His tireless dedication to our community for almost 22 years is admirable! It is truly amazing that our doctors commit their time and energy to the well-being of our community 24/7 year round. We have lost a good man, outstanding physician, and humble friend. Gene & Marcy Sheppard

Thoughts and prayers go out to Betty and family for the loss of a wonderful man. To him you were not just a patient you were a person and he cared for each and everyone of us. He will be missed by many, along with us who do not live in Fort Nelson anymore, but when we did he was there for us. He was a wonderful doctor and man. He made you feel like you were his friend all the time. He helped me many times. God Bless.Dawn DaviesKars, ON

Who would have thought a child growing up in Ethiopia would become a small town Dr. in a remote northern Canadian community. At a time when many have difficulty finding a family Dr. we considered ourselves truly fortunate and blessed that Dr. Kassa was our family Dr. for 20 years. We will miss his whistling as he came down the hall, his 'How are you my Friend', his stories of his travels and the people he met, his interest in our travels and adventures and of course, his interest and care for our health. My thoughts are with Betty, Leah, his Family and all those that worked with him and were under his care. We're all going to miss him dearly. Good bye My Friend. What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal. -- Albert PineOlive & Randy McLean

One never knew where you would run into Al & Betty, We always enjoyed seeing them on one of our northern Sunday drives. We would stop and have a chat in one of the many scenic sites that we enjoy. We will remember him when we stop somewhere along the highway. We will miss his presence in our community.Goodbye for now "my friend."Gary & Lunda Dolen
