Obituary of Dennis Mohr
Obituary It is with mixed blessings that we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father, grandfather and friend as he gave up his fight with ALS. Denny was born in Invermere, B.C. on October 30, 1944. He moved to Dawson Creek while still an infant where he grew up and met and married his life partner Louise. Denny and Louise moved to Fort St. John in 1967 and settled on the Swanson Lumber Road where they lived for the next 37 years and where they raised their two children Clint and Cindy. He began his trucking career at the age of 15, driving for his dad, hauling lumber out of the Stewart Lake Sawmill. He made his first long haul trip to Alaska for Lynden Transport at the age of 17. He purchased his first truck at the age of 19 and so began D. Mohr Ltd. and his lifelong career in the Trucking Industry. Throughout that career he had done it all. He hauled lumber for Swanson Lumber; logs for Peace Woods; free lanced heavy oilfield equipment and freight; trucked and managed Lynden Transport hauling mail and produce to Alaska in the early 70's, and then managed their oilfield office specializing in heavy oilfield and equipment hauling in the late 70's. He had hauled it all. Throughout his career he loved the challenges of numerous other investments and adventures which included five years in the gold fields of the Klondike, where he took leave from trucking and operated a gold mine just out of Dawson City. In 1997 he began hauling acid for the oil and gas industry under the name of Aggressive Energy and then retired to travel and enjoy the world of RVing.
Denny enjoyed life and his humor, teasing and silly antics is fondly remembered by all who knew him. He made people laugh. He loved the outdoors and purchased his first riverboat in the early 70's and river boated every river in northern, and northwestern B.C. These trips always included family and friends. His annual trips up the Musqua River have now become a family tradition. In his later years he enjoyed RVing and travelled the US and Canada, often accompanied by his two grandsons Dylan and Hayden, who pretty much determined the direction of the summer trips, with the Alaska Highway being his favorite. Denny's greatest loves were his family, his grandsons, and his pets who accompanied him wherever and whenever possible. He is predeceased by his mother Ethel and leaves behind his wife Louise, son Clint, daughter Cindy (Brian), grandsons Dylan and Hayden, father, Art (Joan), sister Phyllis, neices, nephews, many extended family members and many good friends.
