Bob was a fearsome bus driver that we adored, I remember happily bringing him our home made ginger snap cookies, and him dutifully eating them. Poor man, those cookies were awful! I also remember foolishly getting out of my seat before the bus came to a complete stop, and then finding myself sliding down the aisle, and coming to a stop almost on his feet when he hammered the brakes. Lesson learned! He was more than just a bus driver, he taught us important life lessons on the way to and from school. It's strange how he was our bus driver for only a few years, decades ago, and he made such an impact in our lives. Thanks Bob.Tracy Thompson

My sisters have illustrated the high esteem we all held Bob in. I will miss him too, he was a great person. My favourite memory of him is when we would catch the bus early, having had to transfer from the high school bus to the Baldonnel bus. We'd sit in darkness waiting for whatever time it was for him to start picking up the rest of elementary kids in the Sunrise Two Rivers area. Tracy and I were transfixed watching his reflection in the big mirror at the front. His was face lit by the eerie red glow from his cigarette that he'd smoke during the wait. It was way too long ago to admit to, but I remember those mornings clearly, the scary man that wasn't really scary. I haven't seen Bob since the last time I rode the bus in grade 7, but I have thought of him often and fondly, anytime I ride a bus with my own kids or see the buses lined up at their school. My condolences to his family, he will certainly be missed.

Bob was the best bus driver we ever had, as kids. Many fond memories of his firm, no nonsense ways. Us Lucas girls still chuckle remembering the kids (with less respect for the rules than others) who tried to walk around on the bus while it was moving. You didn't make that mistake more than once.We also remember Bob as the local auctioneer and the excitement we felt when Mom bought us our first 10 speeds. He tried to sell her a single water-wing as well, and then mimicked us kids "floating down the mighty Peace" with one arm in the air. What a guy.Bob, look down at us Lucas girls and know we adored you. Crusty old man.oxoxElaine McEachern.
