Obituary of John Booth
Obituary John William Booth was born June 5, 1933 in Vancouver; passed away in his sleep May 16, 2014 surrounded by family at the Fort St. John Hospital. He is survived by Kathryn (Kay),his wife of 55 years; son Michael (Michele Berg); daughters Heather Willms (Lorne Willms) and Bawne;grandchildren Oliver and Elissa Willms; and beloved dog Cody. Raised in Jasper, Alberta by his aunt and uncle, John returned to the west coast in his teens. He served in the navy in the mid-1950s and married Kay Morrison upon his discharge in 1958. In 1966 the family moved to Fort St. John where John worked at the nearby McMahon oil refinery, first as asteam engineer and later as a millwright. After leaving Petro Canada, John was employed at the Fort St. John airport until retirement. John was an accomplished gardener and over the years he volunteered with the Fort St. John fire department, the North Peace Fall Fair and the local horticultural society. John loved sailing, fishing, travelling, playing Santa Claus,visiting with friends and relaxing at his cabin on Charlie Lake. He hated stray cats in his garden, "bloody sparrows" in his barn swallow nesting boxes and drivers talking on cell phones.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of John to the Fort St. John Palliative Care Society.
