Obituary of John H. Giesbrecht
Obituary John Giesbrecht was born July 31, 1933 in Rhineland, SK. He was the second child of Johann and Sarah Giesbrecht and grew up on the family farm. He attended school for a few years and then was required to stay home to help out on the farm. In 1956 John and Helen were united in marriage in Saskatchewan and then in 1966 John & Helen & family headed west to Prespatou to follow his and his father's dream of farming; during the winter months he was employed in the forest industry. John and Helen were proud to raise their 3 children, John, Maryann and Joe on the farm in Prespatou. In 1984 John & Helen moved to Fort St. John where he continued working for Canfor until his retirement in 1998. But retirement wasn't all John expected it to be, so he worked part time at Links Golf Course for 4 years and later when he met Steve Troyer in 2007 and was offered a part time job he considered that his favorite job ever.
John is predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters and is survived by 6 sisters, his wife Helen, son John (Mary), daughter Maryann (Bobby), son Joe (Darla), grandsons Brentt (Laura), Jonathan (Keri), Tyler (Jamie), Bradley (Lynette), Bryce and Justin; great grandchildren Harlan, Alexa, Brooke, Emma, Blake & Memphis, who gave him great joy in his later years.
He enjoyed golfing, baseball, travelling and his church family; but his greatest passion was for his personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
