Dorothy was my best friend in grade 10. I was the new girl and it took only moments for her to smile and become my friend. We walked together to school every day and shared many secrets. Although we lost contact for many years, I consider her an important and wonderful person in my life. Rest in peace my precious friend. Love and condolences to Don and family. Marnie

Dorothy was the most wonderful person with just the right words to brighten your day. She always saw the best in everyone and every situation. I enjoyed working with her and just sitting and visiting with her when things were not busy. I will miss her smiles and cheerful words whenever we come up to the Inn. I am glad that all those who have gone before us are cheering us on. My love and sympathies go out to all the family at this time.

I loved going to the Rutherford home for lunch with my best friend Kathleen. Dorothy introduced me to cottage cheese and cheddar cheese melted over jam on bread! She always had a warm welcoming smile and an encouraging word for a little girl. I was also very impressed with her shiny kitchen floor! My heart is with all of you at this time...take care of one another!Love and hugsthe Browne family

As someone who heard a lot about Dorothy far before having the chance to meet her, I was certainly aware of the wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she was for the family I am about to join. Luckily, I was able to meet Dorothy this past year at her granddaughter's (Melissa) graduation, where I was able to come to know the reality of everything I had heard about her. Unfortunately, that was the one time I was able to meet Dorothy, but I am comforted by and I rejoice in the fact that so many of the qualities that characterized her have been passed down through her family. Because of that, I will continue to be able to celebrate and be reminded of Dorothy through Melissa, my new family, and also anyone else that was touched by Dorothy's life.-Morgan Sparks

My thoughts and prayers are with you Uncle Don and your family! Auntie Dorthy was one of the most compassionate, loving and caring person I know. She truly showed Christ like love to everyone she came in contact with. I will cherish the times that I spent with her in the recent years, like when we picked her up in Las Vegas and she got to see the "Las Vegas strip" for the first time. May you feel comfort and peace at this time. Love, Diane Walton

I'm privileged to have known you since Edmonton days and taught your children. For years after among the joys I could count on at Shepherd's Inn was Dorothy's sensitive and sweet serving spirit. She was sunshine, no matter the weather outside. We will miss her keenly and send love and condolences to the family, but know now she is being served and celebrated as she deserves, and I imagine she can scarcely take it in. I'm happy to say, "Dear Dorothy, see you later," and send hugs to all in her close and extended family,

Dorothy was a shining example of a Godly woman. I feel lucky to have spent the time I did with her, and wish I could have had more. She taught me how to be a mother, wife, and Godly woman - leaving an example to follow. Her close proximity to God shown through her, particularly in her bright & lively smile. You could feel the presents of God when she was around, amazing! Not many people are so lucky to live that close to our Creator. Surely, she is in Heaven with the God she loves! She obviously chose a life of servanthood, not an easy task, and walked worthy of it. She was also a GREAT mother, proof in her daughter Kathleen. She was a GREAT wife, proof in her husband Don who loved her and cherished her beyond most marriages. A strong woman, yet gentle and kind with people, wise in word. What a life she lived! Not many people have lived so well, and we will all be blessed for the time that we knew her.

Dorothy lived with our family (Marvin and Ruby Feil) for many years before marrying Don and was a sister to me. Throughout life, we were always close in heart and my heartfelt sympathy goes to Uncle Don, Gerald, Kathleen, Kenneth and their families and to the church community she loved dearly. She lived in faith, always said how much she loved children and cats, and now she is once again Home. "What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget." - Author UnknownBlessings to those who loved her and I join you in celebration of her life and the gifts she bestowed upon all. Love,Sheryl

We got to know Dorothy very well when she and Don moved to the room across the hall from us. Dorothy loved our kids as if they were her own! More than once I was awakened by croupy coughs, and as I ran to care for our kids, I ran into Dorothy who was rushing to care for them. Dorothy was a great blessing to all of us., she was a lovely example of love that gives. God bless you, Don, Ken, Kath and all the family. Thank God we are Forever Family!!!
