Obituary Brown, Ian Gregory
March 29, 1950 - August 30, 2014
After a short battle with cancer, Ian passed away at home surrounded by his family.
Ian is survived by his loving wife Trudi, her children Ken (Angie), Pam (Rob), and Mark (Tammy), grandchildren Kayla, Erica, Sabrina, Jayda, Kainen, Ronin, Gabriel and great-grandchild Evie; by his children Ryan (Tannis), Jeremy (Jody) and Kelly and grandchildren Connor, Brooklyn, Caden, Paige, Finlay, Peyton, and Quinn. He is also survived by his brother Rob and his family.
Ian was born in Windsor, Ontario and spent his early years in Windsor and in Elliot Lake, Ontario. Ian's family moved to Prince George in 1964 where he spent his high school years attending Prince George College. He then attended Notre Dame University in Nelson and in 1971 he joined the R.C.M.P. He served in Evansburg, Edmonton, Thorsby, Boyle, and High River, Alberta. He also served in Prince George and in Fort St. John, B.C., where he retired after 26 years on the force. Ian then began a new career in the oil and gas industry where he worked for 17 years until his recent illness. Ian was active for many years in the swimming and hockey communities and loved watching his children and then grandchildren participate in those activities.
The family is thankful for the compassionate care and support provided by the Palliative Care nurses. In lieu of flowers, donations to South Peace Home & Community Care - Northern Health would be most appreciated.
A celebration of Ian's life will be held at the Charlie Lake Church on Monday, September 8th at 2 p.m.
