Jennifer taught both my mother and I highland dance in FSJ. She would look after me for my grandparents in the summers and I would always look for her at the larger competitions. She was there when I won my first medal and when my mother won hers. She holds a special place in my family's hearts and will not be forgotten by us.

Our hearts are breaking at the loss of Jennifer. We remember Jennifer with such fondness and will dearly miss her. She was such a huge part of our family when she was Lauren's coach for 7 years. We knew we were so fortunate to have her coach in Fort St. John and enjoyed many dance competitions with her. She truly loved each of her students and saw only the best in each dancer. We were blessed to have known her and are so thankful that she came into our lives for a brief moment.Russ and Joy Friesen

I was so sadden to hear the news about Jennifer. I have so many fond memories of Jennifer at Mrs Duncan's dance class and my mum and I going to competitions with her and her mum on the ferries to Vancouver. Also travelling to the games in Scotland and Phyllis and Jennifer staying with my mum in Aberdeen many years ago. Jennifer truly was the most beautiful highland dancer, she made everything look so effortless with such style and grace. She was always so humble about her dancing accomplishments and such a lovely person to know at dance class. My thoughts are with Phyllis and Chris at this sad time. Kathie Noble, Aberdeen Scotland

I first heard of Jennifer when I moved to Victoria (from Calgary) and she was on the Bay Teen Council where my mother worked, and raved about her. I, myself, wouldn't meet her until about 8 years later when my daughter was 6 or 7. We met her a dance workshop in Vancouver, and immediately loved the person we came to know. Not only was she a beautiful and talented dancer, she had such a brilliant, vibrant, compassionate, kind, and friendly spirit. Wanting to have this spirit with us as much as possible, she became our favourite judge and whenever possible, we brought her back to Victoria to judge for the VHGA. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Rest in peace my friend. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Lindsay family, I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Jennifer was my dancing teacher for a number of years and an inspiration to me. I remember a few times when she gave me a ride in her cool red convertible MG car and the encouragement she would give me to keep persisting to improve my dancing. This has translated to many other areas in my life. The last time I had the pleasure of seeing Jennifer was at the River Rock Casino during the BC Highland Dancers Reunion; I was able to introduce her to my little daughter. Jennifer, I will miss you. My thoughts go out to your family. "As long as we live, you will live. As long as we live, you will be remembered. As long as we live, you will be loved."

Dear Jennifer,You have been in my heart and mind since Monday, everyday. With parallel lives between us, I recognized a kindred spirit, walking the same ground from Vancouver, to Scotland, to the Island, to the Central Interior, and back, I will always remember you as a big inspiration, and a kind and giving soul. To dance with you, in class, and in competition, was to be awed by a young girl's determination and to be pulled "up" out of mediocrity; to judge you was to be distracted by perfection personified. To work alongside you teaching dancers--you were the best! But more than that--your quiet, determined, kind and thoughtful ways left a mark on many.Love you you, Phyllis, Doug, Chris---from Rene and all our family who have so many memories of Jennifer and you to keep us warm. Phyllis---do you remember Balmoral Highland Games 1979? Winking an eye now, in memory of Jennifer. The heavenly dancer is now in heaven.Carolyn (Olsen) Phillips-Cusson x

My heart is so heavy at this sad news. Jennifer and I grew up next door to each other. I remember so well the day we met. We had just moved in, and she came over and said, "My name is Jennifer: J-E-N-N-I-F-E-R." I spent many mornings listening to Mrs. Lindsay going over Jennifer's spelling lists;a habit, that I am so grateful to have learned, and continued to do it for all my boys. As such, I thought about Jennifer and her family a lot. Another "gift" I learned from them was to put gifts in Christmas stockings (Jennifer got a curling iron in hers one year!) Sadly, I was also a little rough around the edges back then, and was the awful kid to told her there was no Santa... Needless to say, I have thought of Jennifer a lot over the years. In the early 90's I was so happy to catch up with her for a wonderful visit. Always beautiful, elegant and smart, Jennifer - you will be missed.
