Obituary of Anne Robinson

Obituary Anne Isabel Robinson 1922-2015 Seventy-year resident of the Peace River area Anne Isabel Robinson has passed away at age 92 years and 9 months. She lived on her own (with support of family and friends) until she was admitted to the Fort St. John Hospital on April 12, 2015. She passed away April 24th 2015. She was twice widowed, first in 1965 when her husband Ken Kirkpatrick passed suddenly of heart failure at age 47, and in 2010 when husband Fred Robinson passed two months after open-heart surgery at age 84. She has three children: Jo-Ann (Scriba), Jack Kirkpatrick, and Shannon (Lucas). Son Jack passed away in 2007 from cancer. She has two surviving sisters and one surviving brother: Eva Howard of Brandon, Man., Helen Derwores of Regina, Sask. and Harry Giles of Innisfail, Ab. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Marie Kirkpatrick, Molly Stark, and Doris Giles. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Bert Giles, husbands Ken Kirkpatrick, Fred Robinson and son Jack. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by her beloved grand-children, great-grand-children and one great-great-grandson; Ken Radcliffe (Amy (William) & Kolby), Shauna (Maddison) Carter, Ashley (Cait & Abigail) Scriba, Kirk Scriba, John Kirkpatrick, Geoff (Ava) Kirkpatrick, Jada (John, Kaiden, Addison & Anne) Kirkpatrick. All will greatly miss her wisdom and much sought after advice. She was blessed with a great sense of humour and an unwavering resilience, was lively, and loved to tell great stories of her childhood and her 30 years of owning and managing the Blue Belle Motel in Fort St. John. In her 80's she recorded many of those stories in a memoir which we all cherish and read with joy. She was always up for fun, and played the mouth organ when the mood struck, sketched pictures on every scrap of paper and wrote poetry. She was a positive thinker who always saw the bright side of life. In the last years she suffered from pain due to advanced arthritis. "I'm not sick!" was her answer to any health inquires. She was an admirable woman of strength and will be missed. When I Quit When I quit this mortal shore And mosey round this earth no more Don't weep, don't grieve, don't sob I may have found a better job Don't go out and buy a large bouquet For which you find it hard to pay Don't stand around me looking blue I may be better off than you Don't tell the folks I was a saint Or something else you know I ain't If you have things like that to spread Please hand them out before I'm dead If you have roses bless your soul Just pin one in my buttonhole But do it when I'm at my best Instead of when I'm safe at rest -Anne Robinson It is at Anne's request to hold a private family service at a later date in the summer. If so desired, expressions of sympathy may be made in Anne's memory to Fort St. John Hospital Foundation or North Peace Seniors Housing. Services
