Obituary of Ruth Richardson

Obituary RUTH RICHARDSON Ruth Richardson was born in Turner Valley Alberta on December 24, 1942 to parents Clayton and Thelma Nichol. Ruth had a sister Terry, a stepsister Patsy and a stepbrother William. In 1962 Ruth married Bill Richardson on the steps of the municipal building in Great Falls, Montana. In 1967 they moved north to Pink Mountain at the mile 143 on the Cameron River. In 1971 Ruth gave birth to her first son Shiloh. Just shortly after the family moved and rented a farm out at Boundary Lake. In 1974 they moved to Flatrock, finally owning a farm of their own. Just shortly after Ruth gave birth to her second son Lark. Times were tough back then on the farm. Bill worked in the oilfield which left Ruth to take care of the farm as well as working nights waitressing. On a normal day Ruth would do chores, calve cows, haul bales and of course take care of her two boys and then at 5 pm she would clean up and put her happy face on and jump in the truck and drive to town and work a night shift until 2am. Ruth starting working in the original Frontier hotel back in the early 70's. After it burned down she went to work in the Fort hotel and then onto the Condill hotel where she finally became the bar manager. She finally retired in 2007. Ruth had a talent for working in a fast pace environment and providing top customer service. She enjoyed meeting all of the regulars and getting to know them all by name. If you every visited the Condill over the last 30 years you knew who Ruthie was. Most of the regulars called her mom. She cherished the interaction with all of the people she worked with and served over the years. You made her life special. She was a bit famous too. You could ask most people that ever came to Fort St John to work and they would know who you were talking about. You could hear her on the microphone "Come on boys, what do you say... . you want a little more!" Ruth was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. Ruth is survived by her son Lark and his wife Jo-Anne and their two children Olivia and Cash as well as her son Shiloh and his partner Kathy. Bill passed away in 2008 which was Ruthie's true love. We know now that they will be reunited and watch over us as we continue our journeys. She will forever live on in the hearts of the ones she loved. May she rest in peace. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to the Fort St John Palliative Care Society or the Fort St John Hospital Foundation.
