Obituary of Tony von Hollen
Obituary Anthony Frederick von Hollen passed away early in the morning on April 25th, 2016 from complications after surgery. We celebrate all 84 years of his life by looking back on the things that he accomplished within it.
As one of the first Taylor councilmen, Tony brought forth the idea of get Taylor its own water and sewer. In the spring of 1958 Tony and the mayor went to Victoria to propose this idea and the result was Tony's wife Jean pouring the first glasses of Taylor water to councillors who were seated around Tony's kitchen table.
Tony and the council of the time promoted the idea and push to expand the village of Taylor to include the gas plant and Peace Wood Products. After being instrumental in the enforcement of fair share between Fort St John and Taylor, this provided Taylor with the tax base to expand the leisure activities of the village, updating the Community Hall and building the ice arena and golf course.
Tony is survived by his wife, two children, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be on Saturday April 30, 2016 at the Peace Lutheran Church at 2pm. There will be coffee and snacks afterwards in the basement.
