Here was a gentleman who really enjoyed getting a garden growing, he would do whatever it took to help it grow. I remember him playing music to his corn to help it grow faster. He sure loved his gardens and all the varieties of crops whether they be vegetables or other.

It just hasn't been the same since John quit doing his garden in South Taylor. Every year it was tradition to wander out and buy from him all the great fresh veggies! There was no place better to get your cukes for pickling! He always made sure we took dill with us and my grandkids loved his pumpkin patch! He will be sadly missed in and around Taylor and most especially come fall when the veggies are harvested. K. Hiebert

Good-bye my dear friend. Thanks for the memories of strolling across your beautiful farm, creaking up the stairs with my kids in the pumpkin barn and sharing your pictures of the world. Many fond memories of going to John's garden for the corn. Just a few years ago we were down there looking for dill, he no longer was tending the gardens but was un happy with the folks that were so he invited us in to help ourselves. He will be tending gardens somewhere. Now a legend of Taylor flats!

My Mom and I always enjoyed going to John's market garden. When people would ask if I grew a garden my reply was, "No, I can go to John Curtis' and enjoy the fruits of his labour?" Thank you so much, John, for the decades of great veggies!... And great stories. You will be missed!! You are indeed a legend of Taylor Flats!!

It was really funny how many memories can follow a person. Dan was always joking and telling this one about Dan & John. Dan had never smoked Mariwona, so John gave Dan a little we, we bedding plant. To me it looked like a tomato plant. So Dan planted the plant with the corn and forgot it.Next fall he was picking corn and he found it . I thought it would be could and decorate it like a xmas tree. But Dan said no way ,he's giving it back to John. John was so glad to get it back .That he gave Dan a bottle of Rye ,so they were both happy.
