Obituary In Loving Memory of Julia Pomeroy
August 21, 1946 - June 25, 2016
Julia (Flavell) Pomeroy was born at Summerlea Cottage in North Stoke, England. She arrived in Canada the 21st of January 1947 with her mother Gwen and travelled to Taylor, B.C. to meet her Father Ed Flavell. There, her three brothers were born and Julia enjoyed her childhood at the farm with family and close neighbours. Some of her greatest memories were of cooking, sewing, and reading; at a young age Julia loved refining her skills and knowledge. Julia accepted Jesus as her Saviour as a child at bible camp. Julia married Kenneth Pomeroy in April 1968. In the following years, five sons were born to them. Julia's passion was to spend time working around the house with Kenny and caring and cooking for her boys'. She loved simple things, like quiet times with a hot cup of coffee and sitting on the porch with a good magazine. Julia felt blessed as her sons married and provided her with grandkids. She loved to get down and play with her grandkids and captivated them with her stories. Julia worked for many years as a bookkeeper and office manager; she enjoyed the many challenges and truly loved those that she worked with. Julia retired in October of 2014 and was soon diagnosed with ALS. She faced ALS with courage and openly gave Jesus Christ as the reason for her hope.
Julia will be greatly missed by her sons; Scott (Lisa), Corey (Shaelan), Perry (Carrie) and Shawn (Melissa); her grandkids Wiley, Keaton, Emma, Sterling, Kaitlyn, Lauren, Rylan, Cassius, Sienna, Kobe and McKinley; her brother David Flavell and many extended family and friends.
Julia was predeceased by her parents Ed and Gwen Flavell, husband Ken, son Sterling, and brothers Terry and Bill Flavell.
Expressions of Sympathy can be made in Julia's name to the ALS Society of British Columbia or to the Peace Villa Residential Care Facility.
Julia's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Peace Villa and to the numerous friends who visited and supported Julia during her time there.
