Obituary of Judith Hawthorne

Obituary Judith Anne Hawthorne (Wolff), of Fort St. John, BC, beloved wife of Ken Hawthorne, passed away peacefully in the Fort St. John Hospital on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at the age of 73 years. Judy was predeceased by her parents, Harvey and Isabella (Hendry). Judy was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on August 9, 1943. She attended school in Cardston, AB and later graduated with a Nursing Diploma from the Calgary General Hospital. In August of 1965 she and Ken married and a few years later made their move up to the Peace Country. Judy is survived by her loving husband Ken, their Children: Darren (Elizabeth) Hawthorne, Sean and Richard Hawthorne, Jennifer (Bruce) Kennedy; Grandchildren: Kenneth and Samantha Hawthorne, Breanna, Christopher and Katelyn Kennedy; Great grandchild: Miya Ransome-Hawthorne; Brother Robert (Marge) Wolff; and many aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. Judy enjoyed working in the hospital and was a good nurse. She has kept in touch with many of the friends she made in nursing school and has faithfully attended their nursing reunions every 5 years. She was always busy and held many volunteer jobs within the community. She was honored with the Order of the Red Cross in August of 2016 for her extraordinary contributions to the community of Fort St. John for over 30 years. She has also spent many hours volunteering with the Fort St. John North Peace Museum and the Family History Center. She had a great love for poetry, writing, needle point and genealogy. She was always active ~ walking, hiking, swimming and playing with her Grandchildren. Friends may meet the family at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Tuesday, February 21st from 1 - 1:45PM prior to the service. The funeral will be held at 2:00PM with Bishop David Brown officiating. Internment in the Woodlawn Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Canadian Red Cross Society.
