Obituary of Cora Haagsman

Obituary Cora Lee Haagsman was born October 14, 1977 in Hudson's Hope, BC at the medical clinic. Leone and Pieter had just arrived at the medical clinic and after a quick examination Dr. White went out of the room to call for an ambulance. Leone realized that she was about to give birth and yelled out the baby is coming. Pieter ran out and got Dr. White and about five minutes later a little girl was born. Six pounds, seven ounces. Then Leone and baby went via ambulance to Chetwynd hospital for three days. Leone and Cora left Chetwynd and went back to Hudson's Hope and picked up her brother Jan and headed up to their home in Beryl Prairie. Cora was a very happy, smiling baby and loved to cuddle with her mom and dad and play with family and friends. Cora soon learned her love for animals, farm life and family values and has always kept these values over the years. Cora started school in Hudson's Hope and had to travel by bus with her older brother Jan, who always looked out for her and she would get him if she was worried about anything. As most of us know Cora was always a good speaker, in fact when she was in grade three, Pieter went to her school to watch her receive a medal for public speaking, which she was so proud of. Cora has always been a people person and would talk to anybody. Cora liked all her teachers, but her idol teacher was Mr. J. Poirier. In fact in grade nine he taught her how to make clocks in school and still today one of the clocks she made is hanging on Pieter and Leon's wall in the living room (Yes it is still working) Cora's first job was working with Ann Budalich at the hotel café after school. Her second job was at Fast Gas in Hudson's Hope with Marge and Grandpa Frank. Cora Graduated from high school in 1995 with her classmates, (6 other girls) one of which was her future sister in law Elizabeth Eberle. In 1995 Cora then worked at WAC Bennet Dam when repairs of sink holes were being completed. In 1996 Cora went to college in Prince George to complete a two year Business Administration course, she asked her teacher if she could complete course in one year, the instructor said nobody would be able to complete this course in that short a time, but if she wanted to try, that would be ok. Cora completed the total course in one year with a 96 percent grade. Cora then went to work for Rent to Own in Grand Prairie as a manager and later transferred to Chilliwack, BC. Cora had to travel from her home in North Vancouver to Chilliwack so she quit this job and then went to work for a book binding company (I pack) in Vancouver. Later she went to work for a engineering company called Westmar in North Vancouver, who sold out Worley Parsons and then she transferred to Fort St John with this company in 2011 where she continued to work. Cora's work mates were always saying how happy they were to work with her and enjoyed her smiling happy face and her stories of the north and her family. Cora has always been very close to her family, spending time with them, travelling with them and spending special times like birthdays, and Christmas and holidays. Cora will always be missed by her family they will always have great memories of her smiling face and many happy times she gave them.
