Obituary of Gwen Soderquist Loucks

Obituary Gwendoline Ruth Soderquist- Loucks Born June 2nd 1928 in Grande Prairie, Alta. To Parents : Ethel & Tom Funnell Mum spent her younger years on the homestead in Halcourt, Alta. After leaving home she worked at the TD Bank until meeting her husband Harold and marrying in June of 1950. Soon after Ken was born in September of 1951. Daughter Carol was born in September of 1956. Mum worked at the Coachways Bus Depot until they moved to Fort St. John in 1962 where Mum & Dad took over the agency , which she continued to run until Mums retirement in 1997. Harold passed away in June of 1983 , Mum remarried 7 years later to Ewart Loucks in May of 1990. Mum was a member of the Royal Purple for many years in Grande Prairie. Mum was also a member of the Ladies Curling club and was also made an honorary member , she liked to golf and did so until she had back surgery in 2012. Mum also was an avid horseshoe player and participated in the Seniors Games and also at the Fall Fair. After retirement Mum and Ewart traveled to Hawaii and the UK as well as 9 years consecutively to Yuma Arizona, including a trip up the Alaska Highway. Mum also enjoyed camping and Music Festivals and Blue Grass Festivals. Her grandchildren were her world , her face lit up whenever she was talking about them or was with them. She rarely missed a family function and loved her extended family. Mum was a people person and over the years always enjoyed her many friends and acquaintances. Mum absolutely loved to dance, she had the music in her feet, and loved to square dance too. Predeceased by her Parents, 3 sisters, husband and numerous niece's and nephew's. Mum leaves to mourn her husband Ewart ,her Son Ken & family, daughter Carol & family , stepdaughter Sandra & family and stepson David & family. Extended family , friends and acquaintances. She was truly a person who loved life and all the people she came in contact with and will be greatly missed by all.
