Obituary of Paula Simoneau

Obituary Paula was born in Fort Nelson, BC to parents Paul Simoneau and Mimi Needlay - a beautiful sister for brother Lance Dowd. Paula was raised in Fort Nelson and did her schooling there. Paula was very athletic. She enjoyed playing hockey, soccer, baseball, and broomball. In hockey, Paula was a very aggressive player. When she was in the Pee Wee division, it started getting rough with body slamming, so Mom wanted her to get out so she wouldn't get hurt. Mom told her, "Now lets quit hockey and go into figure skating". Paula spun around with hands on her hips and said, "I am not twirling around in the middle of the ice for nobody!" She loved hockey. In the summer she enjoyed swimming, camping, fishing, family gatherings, and riding her motorcycle. At the age of 5 or 6, the police turned their siren on because she was riding her motorcycle on the road. She was wearing her skirt. She left her bike in the ditch and ran home. She came running into the house and yells, "Cops, da cops!" She continued running into the room and locking the door. That was when she got her first warning. Winter time you would find Mom, Lance, and Paula sliding on the hill. Paula loved the Vancouver Canucks. She watched every game. When the Canucks and the Calgary Flames played you would see Paula and Curtis mock fighting in front of the TV screen or on Facebook. Paula's first job was babysitting and in place of pay, she came home with a puppy. She loved animals, especially her two dogs, Bailey and Otto. Our girl, she worked! She was employed as a waitress at Trapline and housekeeper for the Blue Bell Hotel. She was fired when she told them she couldn't come to work because her dog was sick. She moved to Fort St. John and flagged for a few years with her Mom. After this boring job, she got her tickets and went for her favorite job - piloting and hotshotting for Ditmarsia Holdings. She loved working there. Paula was a very thoughtful and kind person who had many, many friends. She was a very close companion for her mom. Paula and Curtis helped her stepfather with the hotdog stand in the summer. She was very kind-hearted, giving free hotdogs, sweets, and drinks to the less fortunate. She will be dearly missed there by her stepfather and by her customers. Paula worked side by side with her mother for years, selling Native crafts. She was highly skilled in using technology and was her mom's manager. The family went to her for help with anything involving computers, Facebook, etransfers, etc. Mom misses you so much, my baby. Paula leaves to mourn her partner, Curtis Wade Auger; brother Lance Dowd; father Paul Simoneau; mother Mim Needlay; stepfather Douglas Dowd; sister-in-law Glenna Behn; precious nephews Darryl Dowd and Dexter Dowd; aunties Bernadette (Ray) Cardinal, Theresa (Dave) Sutherland, Mabel (William) Kotchea, and Eva Kotchea; uncles Jackie (Rose) Needlay, James Needlay, Dwayne Needlay, Billy Needlay, Ricky (Alice) Needlay; as well as numerous cousins. Paula was predeceased by her grandparents, Eddie and Mary Needlay, and Marie Anna and Albert Joseph Simoneau; her aunties Winnie Smith and Margaret Cooper; uncles Glen Needlay, Roger Simoneau, Emile Simoneau, George Simoneau, and John Simoneau; and cousins Jacqueline Needlay and Corina McCarthy.
